Check valve?

Hi, haven't been here in a while. Been on city water for most of two weeks and it seems my water tank has now back filled and coming out the vent. We are here till April and would like to fix this myself. It is a 2013 36 RE. Looking thru the access door to the pump and filter area I see what look like two check valves, Would either of them be what I'm looking for, or is it down in the belly above the cover?

Thanks, Mark

After reading another forum, it appears the backflow preventer is part of the pump. I might also be able to use the winterizing valve to prevent it until it can be fixed.

Sounds like you got it figured!

I closed that winterizing valve in there this time, and sure enough I am going to forget to open it this spring.

Yep, we had that problem last year. Closed the Winterize value and stopped the problem, at least temp. Changed to a different Water Pump and solved the problem. Went with a constant flow pump, one that regulates the speed of the pump to keep the flow steady.

UPDATE, Because of the cold, I've been back and forth between city and onboard tank and pump. Today I forgot to close the bypass valve and the tank didn't back fill at all. Maybe I'll get lucky here.

The back flow valve is part of the pump. Many times if the city water pressure is low or if you are using an inline pressure reducer the pressure is not adequate to allow the back flow to seat properly. Pressure should be 40-50PSI.

Thanks for the info. I checked my reducer and it states 50-55psi. I will check on it now and then but so far it's ok.

Had that problem and was told by surflo it was the check valve in the pump. They sent me a new pump head with the valve, put if in and it worked fine for a while. I than started having the problem again. I am trying something different now. Not sure if it cures the problem, but time will tell. It seems like the problem always occurred when the park shut off the water for repairs. We kept a little water in the tank, and would turn the pump on until the water came on again. After the water came back on, we would shut the pump off. Now when we lose park water, I shut the valve coming into the trailer, and than turn the pump on. When the water comes on, I shut off the pump, and open the park water valve. So far, so good. If I find that it still does it, I will have to try something else.

Like you, I was back and forth because of the cold from city water to pump. It's been fine ever since.
