I am attempting to change the water filter but cannot break the blue canister free. It is in an awkward spot accessed via a small door in the basement. You simply can't get two hands on it. Am I doing wrong. How hard is it to twist off.

Try using the filter removal handle that should have been provided. Mine was in the pouch with the manuals. It increases your leverage.

Turn off your hose bib faucet and run some water inside without the pump being on. Should release the pressure and allow you to turn the water filter housing. Good luck.

LOL. I just changed mine. Had a bucket ready to catch all the water...it went everywhere EXCEPT the bucket!

Should you remove the filter if you store the RV for a MONTH? And purge the lines?

Anybody keep the paper that said what filter replacement to get? I'm not sure these Camcos are tall enough to get a tight seal like the one I took out.
I remember a note inside the original filter package that had the location to buy replacements. I put it somewhere where I will never find it again for safe keeping.

I think filters are availible for these canisters at most hardware stores or lowes,home depot, ect. You just have to decide particulate or taste as to which element you buy.

I think it is just a particulate filter , but i didn't keep the lable either

Just bring your old filter to CW and get a direct replacement. They come in a two pack.

You can find the oem, a blue filter at filterwater.com. It's a costguard cgt-10 gac filter 9-3/4" pn155109.43
I bought in bulk. BUT I have used the charcoal ge filters at home depot in all our previous rigs.

Do your self a favor. Go to HD and get a new filter canaster with a bypass valve on it and what ever filter you want to put in it. I installed the charcol filter. Now when you go to change the filter you just turn the valve to bypass relive the pressure in the filter can and change the filter. Much easier and less then $40.

And while there, get a different mount for the filter so it doesn't move when you're changing the filter. If you don't want to go to Home Depot (HD) or Lowes, you can order from Amazon also. One of the first mods we did to our RW.

I hold a plastic bag around the filter just below the wrench. Unscrew the filter into the bag. Then you can get the bag, filter and water out thelittle door without too much mess.
