Been in my RW fulltime for 2+ years & use ice maker always, no problems & it makes more than we use, if it breaks it will get fixed. IMO the Dometic is a PITA & I don't have space for it.

Two winterizations and no trouble with our ice line. I can't help but think if maybe the supplier was changed for the tubing, as I never heard of the issue before last year.

Just a thumbs up for the water filter too - In Custer South Dakota three of us in RVs at a private campground. We started noticing that some of the ice cubes were foggy and almost brown in my buddies Dometic ice maker, yet mine were crystal clear. Turns out the silt in the water was horrible, and when I took my filter out at the end of the week it was trashed. We do use a Dometic as well for volume, but I always bring my own water for that.

No trouble with our ice maker either. Only downside is that we have to defrost the freezer every few months if we move from humid to dry climates too much. Wouldn't full time without it.

We only use our RL occasionally - so I don't know what's growing inside that freshwater tank - and bleach water doesn't sound that appetizing either. AA's story about campground water also demonstrates that one of the more sophisticated filtering system than Redwood installs might be needed to make city water at all these various Summer campgrounds "healthful"

We always bring bottled water for drinking and making ice - and hauling it hardly takes up any space. That saves lots of capacity for the dishwasher, washer, showers & toilet. Obviously this might not be an option for those who full-time.

When we fire up our big portable ice maker, I don't even use bottled water, we bring it from our home tap in those blue water jugs (5-gal). I have 3 I can bring and haul in the back of the truck. Makes ice for 5-7 days.

We love our home water. Before we leave, I fill the big freshwater tank regardless of whether or not we have full hookups. If nothing else, I use our tank water to wash the Redwood, boat, truck, or whatever while we are camping, because our water doesn't leave spots. I just turn off city water, flip the hot water bypass, and turn on the pump and I can wash the bugs off the Redwood, then restore the system back to city water.

We use our ice maker all the time too, other than having to defrost it from time to time, no issues with the operation and it makes more than we use.

This is our first rig with a Ice Maker, was not sure but after fulltiming with it for 8 months now, we love it !!!

we always sterilize our ice cubes with a high grade alcohol before consuming the ice.

I haven't had an issue with the ice maker lines so far, knock on wood. Someone showed me a while ago how to winterize it. I've been using that method since I got my RW. I pump antifreeze through the rig with the ice maker line unhooked and hanging. Once the anti-freeze starts flowing I close the line, and wrap a baggie around the hose end letting anti-freeze puddle in it. Wrap the baggie tight and sit it in the fridge compartment. It stays sealed in the anti-freeze. Sop up any water left in the icemaker. AA, love the whiskey stones, no dilution.

I just replaced my ice maker line with a 20' 1500 psi stainless braided line. It wasn't too hard of a job. Hopefully will never have to deal with any leaks from the ice maker line in the future.

Just curious where you got the hose, may do that just so there's no more worries.
