Interesting question..... It would have to be on a late model year 16, with the straight roof line at the earliest... And at that , it would depend on a few things:

#1 - if RW actually made the change promised... Although I believe it is in writing somewhere on the forum ??

#2 - how many older frames they had assembled waiting to use before making the promise ??

Wasn't that change supposed to happen with the Correct Track upgrade? I can't remember what he said.

Yup, followed instructions to a T. When Lippert had know idea what I was taking about, I emailed Christian. She repeated same instructions, got the same results so I gave up.

Kind of hard to spend a lot of time for a 20 or so dollar part, isn't it? Kind of a shallow offer from Redwood.

Exactly! I don't think I spent more than $125 for the never lube replacements.

Brad,
I had the name wrong...and price. They are Lippert 281285 Never Fail Shackle and Bolt Kit for Double Axle. The cost was $78.00 on Amazon.
I had them replaced when I did the disk brakes. 2 of the 4 bushings were shot. Three of the drums were soaked with grease. BTW, I have about 15,000 miles on the trailer.

Ah, I hadn't seen that version before. I have the Morryde set in a box in the garage waiting for spring and I think it has bronze bushings and I do have to grease it. What are the Lippert bushings? They look black. Teflon maybe?

Brad ,

If your swapping to the SRE4000 , you may as well do the HD shackles and wet bolts at the same time. It is so easy to do the 2 together . .. Or wait , don't you gave an issue with your spring pack ?

I'm not sure. I know a few guys that have installed them. I decided not to go the wet bolt route as too many have trouble getting them to take grease. This looks like a good alternative. I know you're not a fan of Lippert components....who knows if they bought the technology like the pin boxes....here's the link: Never Failâ„¢ Bushings

If you got the MorRyde kit you won't have any problems with them taking grease, the factory ones there were about 1/2 of them that wouldn't.

Thanks Ken - True I'm no fan of Lippert, but they are just a part of life in an RV. I'm actually not a total fan of Mor-Ryde either, but I thought the wet bolt was the only alternative and they just happen to make them. Thanks for enlightening me to alternatives I didn't know were out there.

Part of the reason for my change out is Redwood engineering says they 8K spring leaves are hitting my shackles because the axles were installed too close together and the shorter shackle is supposed to fix that. I just automatically went to the wet bolt system without shopping around much.

I talked to Mor-Ryde at length based on their statement the SRE4000 does not fit the 8K spring pack, and in the end they really were relunctant for me to even try it, especially because I already have issues with the springs hitting the shackles on the Equaflex. Ultimately the IS is probably the answer, but a lot of travel and bucks to make that happen, and I just want to go camping I don't see this Redwood in our future for very long so I hate to invest a lot of money in it.

Hey Brad, if you do go ahead and install the 4000, take a look at putting the grease zerks for the outer shackles on the inside of the trailer. Gotta crawl under to grease, but you can get to all of them easily without fighting the tires. The center zerk I faced outward.

Thanks for the tip! I assume that would even apply to just the wet boat kit. I doubt I will go with the 4000 unless these shorter shackles cure all my woes.

Did you install your own? I'm thinking that is how mine will end up - getting done in the driveway, as I can't find anyone here that will do it without keeping it for 5 weeks.

Take trip out east for the Rally in September.... My guy will install them in an hour or 2 . . .
He did my sre4000...HD shackles and wet bolts.. and my entire disc conversion.. I dropped it of at 7:30 AM.. I went back after my visit locally later that day , waited a bit , hooked up and took it for a test spin to check it all out.. paid, and left for home at around 3:30 the same day... and cheap... Old school guy...

That would be nice. I thought I found one at the RV show - nice booth, nice to talk to, but his placed looked like the city dump and he said "drop it off and I should be able to get to it in about 5 weeks". I could picture it infested with rats, contents gone, up on blocks waiting for him to finish. I told him I could easily get treated that badly at the Dealer

Yea, did mine myself, except no driveway concrete, did it in the dirt !! But, pretty easy job. The hardest part was to get the spring eyes lined back up to the shackle. A good floor jack and a crowbar helped a lot.
