38GK Rear Storage

What are you using this space for?
I thought my tool boxes would fit they are all too tall.
36"Dx40"Wx8"H

Thinking about a slide tray but that would reduce the height by 2".

Looking at your measurements , that is about the same as the one on our 38rl..
I put the 2 carpet mats , the 4 sets of sand shoes.. the folding trash can.. basically anything in touch with the ground and or sand...

There was a post on here and it might have been johnnyboy that placed it.They took out the plastic tub and installed planking on the bottom. Apparently they gained a lot more storage under there. You would still be limited by the door opening

I think you may be referring to my post a while back, I overhauled the rear compartment adding deck boards, also installed electric rear jacks and a battery in the rear.

Railcat, Looks like you gained length & width but not height. Is that correct?

Yes that's correct, there isn't an easy way to gain height. What I didn't like was the flimsiness of the plastic tub. I now have 4 water hoses, both 50 amp cords, 2 sewer hose supports, jack pads for rear jacks, battery, satellite dish, and still room for other goodies back there. I get lots of compliments on it while visiting with fellow campers.

I believe all 38GK have the slide in slide. You cannot use a king bed with the slide in slide option

I had thought the 38RL and 38RE had the King Slide-in-a-slide, but I don't where it specifically says that on the website. It does say the 38GK is no King.
