I don't have either, but would prefer the IS. The biggest difference would be about $2500+ between the 2 options, the IS is pricey but not really comparing apples to apples.

I just spoke with Henderson out of Oregon and for our 2015 39MB it was around 8K for the IS with Kodiak disc brakes. Takes about 3-4 days for install. Have to make appointment and parts take a month to arrive.

For me, I went with the IS because it eliminates the leaf springs and the issues related to them. The order in which I made improvements to the Redwood:
1. Add Disk Brakes - Ron
2. Replace Tires - Ron
3. Upgrade to IS and 8K axles

After the three upgrades, I feel pretty confident going down the road. The disk brakes and the tires, to me were the most significant.

Huh? IS and axles? I thought they removed the axles and threw them away when you have IS installed.

You are correct. The Mor/Ryde IS requires removal of the original axles and replacing with an independent suspension on each wheel.

Independent Suspension System - MORryde Products

Hope this helps.

You can get IS in 7k or 8k, The IS axles don't run the width of the rv, but I am not sure what else you call them.

I had the 8K IS installed last June and I believe I paid $3700.00 ... I also paid $500 extra to have the work finished on a Saturday as I could not make any other timing work..To me, it was worth it...

If you plan ahead, they are great to work with..

I LOVE my IS.... IF you can afford it, there is nothing like it

My order of upgrades -
1-17.5’s swapped from my trade with 500 miles
2-Discs, THANKS RON !
3- Morryde 8K IS
All within 1 year.

I see that the IS sounds like the way to go, my main reason of axel upgrade is.. like mentioned on a different post before ,I keep getting wear and blowing tires after 700miles or less, reason most likely bend axel caused do to overweight on my unit. So I'm thinking to upgrade axel size. Called a knowable RV place on the Alabama LA border and the said I should go with 8k Axel's he also said I could go up to 9 and 10 K but needed spring support modification. I'm just trying to figure out witch way to go.

Here is a close up of the rotor -

As you can see, the made a “sub frame” for the assembly. They will take many measurements BEFORE the job to see hoe level the RW frame is while being towed. Then they will build a subframe to level the RW as best as they can.. Mine was a 2-1/2” frame...

I agree, those are great pictures, not sure about the sexy part

Had the IS with Disc Brakes installed on my FL, what a difference, trailer rides better, stops better no tire wear issues.

For a FL, 8K is fine, going higher is a waste of money and will ride rough due to the higher spring rates.

The IS Axle Assemblies are rated at 8K but the springs rates that are installed match your actual weight so you get a smooth ride.

Went on a plant tour last year at SOB, I saw 9K IS Axle assemblies, did not know they made them, they were quite beefy !!!

OP, call Mor/ryde and get a price, they are very easy to talk to and will give you a quote. Yes the IS will be more than upgrading to standard 8K axles, but all the problem the IS eliminates may actually come out cheaper if you keep your RW for a while.

I really think the IS system completes these RVs. I’ve always said the 2 weakest parts of most RVs are the roofs and suspensions.

We are going up to Henderson’s in Grants Pass in the morning to pick up our 36RL with 8k IS and disk brakes. It has been an adventure to say the least. They have had it for over a month . They ordered the wrong IS. Only human. We can’t wait. They really are nice people and said they will do what ever to make it right.

One suggestion, from someone who owns a IS system - take the rig for a long ride, preferably at least 100 miles, and then check everything especially the stuff inside.
You should notice a marked difference (in the positive) in the way it tows and handles. Hard to describe, its more of a "feeling in your butt". The whole rig should feel connect d together and very solid. Also, stuff inside should not move around much unless you are on terrible roads or had to climb all over the brakes.

There are a number of different spring rates and it's not uncommon to switch them out for a different rate even after using the one that engineering called for.

You'll love the IS especially if you also have disc brakes. Makes for an incredibly stable and good performing rig.
