Any one using the Steady fast stabilizing system?

Hi, I have been trying for days to ask this question but every time I get on I end up reading all the other great comments and posts!

Just traded from a 43' MH to a new 38GK and am experiencing more side to side motion than I want. Their site looks great and the comments are positive and I can even understand the installation videos! Just looking for comments and other suggestions to this shaking. Wondering also if I can move my spare back 2 or 3 inches - that will help the rear stabilizer installation.

Thanks for all the great posts - I learn something every time I open a thread.

Stay warm, looks like it may be a rough one!

I've never felt this was necessary on the Redwood. Not even sure you can install it with the Level Up system?

The one thing I did add was a set of rear stabilizer arms, that helped quite a bit. But otherwise this moves much less than my previous RV's.

Welcome,
when I first noticed the shimmies on mine, i isolated it to the LONG rear overhang and no support on the back...
lwg's stabilzers is a nice add and similar to the electric stabilizers we had on our previous 5er...

Not sure if that was a solution I wanted to do, I just chose a simple wind up boat trailer jack under the hitch at the back... that took 90% of the shimmies out of our 38gk...

good luck with it !

I did add the rear part only of the Steadyfast system. It is attached to one of the level up jacks behind the tires and to the frame on the opposite of the frame. It does help some. I also added a jack that attaches into the hitch receiver on the back of the coach. It is made from a adjustable jack used for bumper trailers. There has been a photo of one at the top of this forum when you first open it. Don't know if it still there. It helps a little more but does not take all the bounce out. Wish they could put the rear jacks back further but they surely have a reason for placing where they do.

I think it could be done, BUT you would have to modify the feet on the hydraulic jacks to provide a mounting for the stabilizer arms. We have some movement, but not enough to bother us and adding such stabilizers would just be something else to mess with when setting and and tearing down.

The only mod to the jacks on the one I put on is to drill one hole in the foot piece.

I have the steady-fast and I love it. it does take some planning during the installation to make sure the bolts weld to the feet will clear everything. Make sure that loosen the wing nuts before retracting the level up system. The back wing nut is a lot easier to get to before you deploy the slide-outs. pretty much controls all of the wobbles except when the washer is spinning.

I am also thinking about getting the Steady Fast unit for ours.
We get a lot of movement in the rear bedroom.
It sure is a long way from the rear jacks to the rear of the coach.

Thanks for all the great comments. I bit the bullet and ordered the Steadyfast option C with the bolt swivel clamp to foot plate at $284. Spoke at length with and ordered from Kathy who really knows her stuff! When she said you should have no problems with this and if you do or have any questions just call Paul the owner (and inventor).

By the way Rob Fla, Kathy felt I should not need anything extra even with my distance from rear jacks to rear of the coach!

I will post again with my results. Motor safely!

Like I said in an early post take your time while doing the installation and make sure the bolts will not hit anything when retracted and remember to loosen the wing nuts. Trust me you will only do this once and you remember every time after that.

I just bought two 5,000# screw jacks on Amazon and put them under the rear frame. Made our 38GK a lot better. Took 3 minutes to install or take down and just throw them in the back storage area to travel.

Finally got around to installing the Steadyfast system!

Very pleased with the way it stabilizes the rig. We have the GK and I agree with the manufacturer that it removes 98% of the side to side and front to back "shaking". I got the "C" package which includes two side to side and one front to back stabilizers and parts to screw or weld to your existing foot pads. I screwed through the foodpads as I didn't want to deal with welding. They included everything including the proper drill bit and a tapered bit for the footpad.

Hardest thing was laying on my back and drilling up through the frame. Ended up using a piece of 2 x 4 to apply leverage to the drill applying the upward pressure needed.

Check it out at Steadyfast.com. I am a happy camper and cant wait to get it on the road again.
