I was going to go with the 26 but lacked a 1/2"...

I was going to go with the 26 but lacked a 1/2" of opening width on the street side. I'm guessing manufacturing tolerances ! For me the 20" worked out ok as I have a storage shelf behind the tray...

The basement floor is 3/4 plywood. You do have to be careful in a RL as the water tank is under the floor but not right up against it.
I used 1x4's and stacked 2. Mounted them with 1 1/2 inch wood...

I thought a lot about size too. The next up from 20" is 26" which won't clear the street side opening. The more I thought about it, I decided to go to the 20" because that allowed me to keep my chair...
