With smaller generators I've always lessened the initial load by 'stepping up' the load from the ac... so it's not pulling max load all at once...

first turn on low fan only,
then turn on...

having majored in 'endgenering' helped that, but don't have the rv, nor the ac specs, so ballparking it now...

the $5000 onan seemed like overkill for us...

99% of the time we have electricity available as our storage facility has it...
