Having the W/D on the same side of the bus would be OK, providing the busses were balanced out OK with other items. The washer doesn't pull that much (4A), but the dryer does (12A). I wouldn't say...

I've done that before as well - I think it is more of a balance thing between the two legs. Even though it is 50A on each leg, one of those legs may get overloaded when I use everything possible...

Actually 100 AMP or less Johnboytoo, and that is plenty. You get the full use of 100A 110VAC on a 50A 220VAC pedestal.
