I'm certainly sure it could be some sediment caught in the check valve and drawing water from the tank might clear it up so it works fine the next time. Hard to say,...

X2, but I think you can replace just the check...

X2, but I think you can replace just the check valve and not the whole pump. In the interim I there is a valve down by the pump that you can close and it will keep water from going back to the tank....
