Also wired mine shut... My ladder wasn't in the way but had to pull the couch out 8-10" to use the handle. There was another exit at the end of the couch that would be much easier to exit.

Mine has broken twice, the 2nd time I wired it shut & it's still that way. Actually couldn't use it without moving the couch, be easier to use the exit window at the end of the couch.

What about the bedroom escape window? I can't even imagine either one of us trying to go out that window & dropping 8-9', hell no ��!

Wired mine shut after second handle broke. In an emergency you'd have to move the couch out about a foot to open that window, the one at the end of the couch would be much easier.
