Some are just faulty, yours may have been on the back of the for 5 years before they found it, replaced mine after 3 years & no more 2am same ups.

M&A, didn't you have a propane bottle in your last RW that was out of date quickly? So just because the RW is new doesn't mean the sensor is, may have falling off the shelf covered in dust & some...
