water filter wrench

This is what a filter wrench typically looks like. If you have an oil filter wrench that will also work in most cases... again if it is a whole house filter cartridge style.

If it is a standard whole house filter( ours is on the new redwood) you can probably unscrew it without a wrench. Depends on how tight it was put on. Otherwise our bigger Walmarts actually carry them...
