Ours came with two batteries. If it wasn't necessary, they wouldn't put in two battery boxes. I think your dealer is trying to cheap out. Getting just 1 ship battery is like getting a unit set up...

The ship battery is most likely a low amp hr cheap battery. At the least you should have something like two identical group 27 deep cycle batteries.
