I couldn't find any marking on my rims, but best guess is either 6.75 or 7 inches, so I think I'll go with the 245/70 almost the same OD as my current 215/75s, but go from 4805 to 6005 cap/tire. ...

I agree we're the same about leaving ruts in soft ground. I'd like to go to the 245, but don't want to spring for new wheels at this time as we may end up down sizeing in the near future.
