I hold a plastic bag around the filter just below the wrench. Unscrew the filter into the bag. Then you can get the bag, filter and water out thelittle door without too much mess.

I am sure about the 12 volt system. If the house power (12 volt battery ) cut-off is turned off, the keyless entry does not work. As a note - I do not have a keypad, only fobs.
