I can't speak for Redwood but my opinion is that they understand there is value in having a community for their owners to connect. You have to keep in mind they build RVs so they don't have the skill sets needed to maintain and manage an online community. When I approached Redwood I basically outlined the case that they build RVs and we build communities. If I was going to try and build RVs they would probably not be as successful as a firm who's building building RVs for years. Likewise when a manufacturing firm tries to build and foster an online community, they simply don't have the tens of thousands of hours of experience in building forum communities.

You also need to keep in mind that when it's an official company owned community, members can take comments from a mod or admin as an official statement from the company (even though it wasn't intended to be). Now that we will be an independent community we can expand the team to be member managed which will help make the community easier to manage.

I applaud Redwood for having the foresight to start this forum and for running it for so long. I hope that they will be proud of how we foster it from here on out and that Redwood owners will consider this to be a great resource for them and the ownership of their RVs.

I see no reason why there can't be two separate forums operated by two different organizations.
