This Tuesday (Nov 12th) the forum will be updated to a new, more robust software platform, vBulletin.</span>Many of you who are active on other internet forums will be familiar with this software as it powers most of the larger forums online.

While this is undertaken, the forum will be offline (probably a few hours). During this time you will be unable to access the Board but once the update is complete you should be able to login as normal.

All posts and discussions will be moved to the new platform and there will be some new features available as well including ability to upload attachments directly to posts, member photo albums, additional messaging features and several other cool options.

We want to minimize the time the site is offline and so when we return you'll see some things that may still need to be tweaked. We'll work those quickly however and you can post if you are having trouble.

The new Board will have a substantially different appearance (here's a preview)

and once we're up and running we may be able to feature member photos or rigs in the forum banner. Thanks in advance for your patience as we work through this transition, sometimes these kinds of changes can be a little unsettling but I'm confident that you'll enjoy the new features and flexibility. Best of all we'll be able to address spam issues more effectively and quickly

We're pushing because it will be nice to have more spam abatement tools in place andbecause it will be nice to get some members involved in managing the site. Both those things are easier to facilitate with a software change

It would be nice if the website eventually supports an App like Autoguide or Tapatalk. Would make surfing and posting much easier from a tablet or phone.

While I've never liked the web wiz forum software, there are two features I really like that would be great if you can incorporate into the new sites:

1) one button to click to list all the new posts since your last visit
2) one button to mark all new posts as read !!!

thanks !

I agree, a button on each thread to take you directly to the first unread post will be a great enhanced, as per Tony's forum.

Another enhancement could be a hyperlink at the bottom of the quick reply entry box to take you home, again similar to Tony's forum.

1. Click on Quick links in the upper tool bar and click on Todays Posts.

2. Click on Quick links and click on Mark Forums Read.

Adios, Dirk

At the very bottom of every page is a tool bar and at the far right is a "Top" button that takes you to the top of the page.
