Schwinteck has already came out with a replacement to what we have. The track has deep teeth and is detached from the side and stands out about 1/2". As I understand, it was to keep water from running down over the track and freezing causing automatic self destruction when folks tried to retract it, but that was a salesman talking at the RV show, so who knows the real back ground. To me personally, it does not look like a sturdy system.

We've had 2 brand new MHs next to us recently one all of slides were Schwintec & the other all slides had what appeared to be the super heavy duty Schwintec Brad mentioned, they look massive. I think it's a lubrication/adjustment issue if they don't work correctly, but as Rob said the cable systems look VERY cheap.

Cable system may look cheap, but for what ever reason, DRV has gone to them and that happened prior to the Thor take-over.
The cable system is a much simpler system, no fancy controller box to keep the two motors in sync or torque monitors to stop the system if there to much resistance.
Only time will tell.

The cables will stretch but I think the main problem with the cable systems have been the pivot points. These are usually rollers of some sort and since they aren't usually fastened very well to the unit and usually made of cheap material they tend to fail. Once one roller or guide lets loose then the whole system is crap. Just too many weak links.

As Dave said, the cable system is only as good as the routing and mounting.

Continental Coach uses only cable systems for the smaller slides, when I went through the plant, they showed me how they reinforce the mounts and also make access points for adjustments of the cable. He told me all of the cable systems will stretch after a while and they have to be adjusted.

I love, love, LOVE our washer and dryer! In fact, I love doing laundry now because I love our washer and dryer so much.
