17.5 wheel for spare tire.

Greetings! We upgraded to the Morryde 8k and now need a matching (but cheap) 17.5” wheel / rim to keep as a spare. Cosmetics are a non-issue. We found a used (same size) load range J tire but on a “flat” rim with 5/8” lug nut holes. Looking for a wheel that can use the same 9/16” cone shaped lug nuts.

We are in Mesa, AZ until mid February and planning on running east toward Florida via a southerly route from there.

Thanks!

I changed the spare Westlake tire on the 16" wheel to a Sailun tire rated at 4400 lbs each. It may never be on the ground and I don't feel that its worth adding money for a wheel and tire under the trailer. Size wise the 17.5 tires are about 1/2 " taller maybe less so that a non issue.

When we bought our Goodyear 17.5 tires and wheels from Ron (formerly Performance Tire) I'm certain he said the G614 tire and wheel combination outer diameter was so close to the 17.5's that he wasn't recommending buying a fifth tire and wheel combo to use as a spare. If you wish, search for his post from about 2-3 years ago.

Was told the same! With any luck at all the spare will never be on the ground & if so not long enough that a 1/2" difference would have any effect on anything.

Same here. When I went to the Sailun H rated I just kept the Goodyear 16" as a spare.

I have an OEM 17.5" Steel wheel that you can have. The problem is that it's stored up North, but if you happen to be coming to the Rally this Summer, I could bring it.
We'll be in and out of our Home Base in Western New York (Rochester/Buffalo area) where the wheel is between the end of May and beginning of September, so if you were anywhere near there we could try and make arrangements, provided you haven't found something before then.

Thanks all. Wound up finding a cheap used load range J tire locally and a used wheel on eBay. Our old spare was a load rage E and sold our original load range G wheels and tires as a set.
