Truck cover

Just took delivery of our F350. There are many things I can do to customize the TV to be exactly what we want except figure a way to make it fit in my garage.

Anyone have any thoughts what makes a good cover for the truck as well as a good source?

We got the Bakflip, think it was the F1 model, but not entirely certain. It works really well and can hold up to 400 lbs on the top when it is closed. With the coach hitched up we leave the last section down and it doesn't interfere with the hitch.

Actually I am looking for something while it is stored to keep the rain dust sun etc etc off the entire truck. I think you are talking about something to cover the bed, right?

Affirmative, thought you were looking for a bed cover. Can't help with a full truck cover.

Two years before we ordered our Redwood and our truck, I had a 40 x 60 ft pole barn built. I worked up sketches of the design and set down with 3 different barn contractors to work out details and quotes. I ended up choosing an Amish contractor who came in with the best quote and his crew did a very nice job for me.

I would suggest California Car Covers...http://www.calcarcover.com/
They are known for their indoor car covers, but make outdoor covers as well. Expensive, but high quality.

I have the "Flipbak" rolling cover. It works pretty good but it's not flawless.

If you're looking for a bed cover, we are pleased with our Retrax.
It keeps the dust and critters out when not hooked up and is lockable, so your goodies stay with your truck.
When towing, it rolls into a box at the front of the bed.

Safe travels

I think you have to be aware of the region you are storing - some are more susceptible to build up of mold and rust, where places like here are haunted with UV and wind which can trash a cover in a hurry and leave abrasion marks on your paint. I don't have a good answer other than a pull in type tent garage to keep the moisture and rubbing off your truck.

On the other hand, my "bought used" truck clearly sat outside and always facing the same direction. After the Dealer shiny juice washed off, there was a lot of bleaching out of the black plastic parts showing. Slowly but surely I'm getting them all replaced to bring it to pristine.

Our cover is an aluminum rolling cover with baked on paint. The paint is now starting to chip off but it has so far served me well. I like the idea of locking the bed down so I can store stuff when we're not pulling the trailer. The cover does miss the hitch so we don't have to remove it.

In the Ice and snow, sometimes we have problems with melting ice building up in the canister that the cover rolls into. Then when it refreezes, the cover will get stuck. With that said, I've never had a time where I couldn't get it open enough to hook up the redwood even in the winter. It just takes some beating on it to get the ice loose.

This is my second one and I would buy another, but like I said before it's not perfect.

Actually what I'm looking for is something to cover the entire truck since I have to store it outside. I don't like the idea of the truck being exposed to the elements since it won't fit in my garage. Any thoughts appreciated.

To the original question of a full truck cover...

have had them and AA states it well... it depends...

A great detail job every 6 months is what I would do, as the covers and bras I had on my sports cars over the years made more issues than they resolved!
YRMV, good luck !
