Suspension Upgrade

OK ~ just put the Sulastic Shackles on the Dually Sulastic

All I can say is WOW. Truck now rides unladed like an F150 half ton. All of the bridge joints, concrete highway strips, small potholes etc. that used to generate a wince because you knew what was coming and a "hop around" of the rear wheels ............ is 80% GONE. I still can't really believe the amount of difference these rubber cushion shackles make.

Real world install with 2 of us was about an hour and 20 minutes and I could probably do the next set in an hour or under just because of knowing the procedure. Definitely a DIY, if you have access to a good impact gun. Hand tools aren't going to do it.

Money well spent. They are available for all 3 makes and SRW and DRW.
No ~ I don't have stock but just thought I would pass along something that works.

Vaughan, did you happen to get pics of the final install? I'm still trying to figure out how the work. I watched the video and I see a big box truck with a knee joint looking system, but that doesn't look the same as what goes on the F350.

I'll slide under the truck and take some pictures. The set that goes on the Ford is the same as the one that is shown on the home page. Kind of a "knee action" replacement for the stock shackle. Raised bed exactly 1/4" as specs said it might.

As promised, here are pictures. It's basically a "knee joint" with vulcanized rubber. Under full load, the 2 arms contact each other with a rubber bumper and make the shackle solid.

No. When loaded the shackles compress and are solid. Never had an issue with tide loaded. Dually rides like a champ with 3500 lbs of pin weight.

Yea, mine rides real nice loaded... Except for when the RW hits bridges... And that will be correct in June.

That looks great Vaughan! Thanks for the pics. It makes sense now. I assume you run with the airbags down around 5 so these can kick in?

Yep - I always drop the bags down to 5 lbs when unhitched so they are just along for the ride. Usually run 45-70 lbs when pulling depending on the road and how much water I have in the tank. If it's a nasty day and crappy roads, rig handles much better with full water and 65-70lbs air. Steady as a rock even when a semi passes.

If I end up keeping this truck past the summer, I'll give that a try. Anything to improve the unlodaded ride would be good. I was wondering if you dropped down to 5 psi because it seams like if they had 20 or higher it might not let that shackle do it's thing.
