I can only speak for my Ford SB, but chances are good you will not need a slider on the GM either.

Since no one could tell me for sure (except the salesmen and well... ),
I didn't want to take the chance!
Once you have the auto slider, it works and can be moved to other trucks...

Like some others here I traded our 2012 Ford 350 SWD crew cab Lariat 6.7 diesel short bed for a 2016 Silverado 3500 HD diesel High Country DWD long bed crew cab, with the optional 3.71 gear box due to the GCWR being exceeded by 1100 pounds with empty tanks and very light gear. The 2013 36RL pin weight is far more than expected. Our new truck is very stable with the RV in cross winds. The new truck's hitch is a removable Reese Elite 25K non sliding hitch. The Ford had a slider Reese Elite 18K removable hitch. There were times I needed the slider features to clear the Ford cab. With our new truck the cab clearance is not an issue unless the RV is passing me! Hopefully will never experience that.

Ted,
A good friend that has towed about 70k with an manual slider, just took a turn too tight and ran the contoured front cap into the truck....An automatic slider would have prevented the damage to the truck....I'd suggest that you need one!

Did you have the Triglide pinbox? I never even came close with the 18K slider, or standard hitch.

The new flex air is longer than the rotoflex. My only concern with the longer flex air would be the pinbox catching the side of 5 he box in a Jackknife situation
