New Dodge Maybe?

Ok guys I am thinking of trading my 2010 F350 in on a 2014 Dodge 3500 with auto and was wondering what kind of fuel mileage you guys are getting empty and pulling? Also any bitches or complaints on your Ram?

After 3 rear ends in my Ford and the third one howling again and only 4.5 mpg pulling I am ready to trade.

Pulling, we got 6.8mpg (brand new). I understand that after about 6k miles, the mpg improves. Otherwise in mountain driving empty, we got 16.5mpg
No complaints at all

WOW only 6.5 pulling? I average around 10 and I have a heavy foot. In the Rockies I think I was getting around 6.5-7 but I had my foot up inside the firewall tucked behind the radio somewhere

You have a different motor Dave, mine is NAVSTAR motor, only had them from 2008 to 2010.
Also had to have radiator replaced.

The 2011 up 6.7 is a winner if you are not burned out by Ford....

I'm about the same as Dave, do 10-10.5 towing and about 17 around town. Truck is stock. Considering an air intake but right now totally stock.
I would like to drive a '15 with another 40hp and 120 ftlbs more torque ........

Ok, I'll tell you this. Sold a 2003 Chevy Duramax with the Allison to get the Ram. The Chevy could not pull the hill at all. Never looked at a Ford since I had no interest in it at all. The Ram is all it is cracked up to be and have never looked back. If you want a friggin' Nissan to pull your rig, so be it. I have never had an issue with uphill, downhill, 6% or 10%. If you are hiding your feet under the dash, well, I can't help you. This Ram will hold you goin' up and goin' down. Sure, it drinks the fuel and it drinks the ETF, but, it will not let you down. Going to Denver from Silverthorne, up the pass, going 60, well, I will kid you not. And, after the tunnels, going down, doing 60 as well with my foot off the gas, and just steering, piece of cake. Drive it like you own it !!

I can't say enough positive stuff about that in-line six that cummins has. Dodge had a problem with what they said you could carry (by their brochure) and the transmissions. Now dodge has that all worked out, I'll look at them again. I've got too much in my F350 to trade it right now and it would be too hard to get it back to stock.

My truck is set up like that now. I've got around 920 ft lbs of torque but the new trucks will have a better turbo which will pull harder than mine in the hills. The new exhaust brake on the new trucks would be nice too.

The extra torque is nice if you have to move quickly in traffic or on long grades. Otherwise on my truck it was a waste of money.

My '11 3500 mega cab is fabulous. Dw loves it and helped make the decision. Flat eastern towing of the 38gk gets me between 9.5 and 10. Eastern mountain ( i know hills for you western guys) and i get 8.9. We usually travel with full water tank, dw loves her softened water from the house.

I had a '99 Dodge, had such a horrible experience with it that I didn't even look at them when I bought our truck this time. The Cummins is a powerhouse but a truck is more than just an engine.

These new Dodges are really getting good reviews, I hope they've worked through all their prior issues and are now reliable.

As for my Ford...no problems, a really nice truck that has proved to be dependable and I'm happy with the mileage!

I had my mind set on a 2015 F350. I had test driven the 2014 about 200 miles. Saturday I drove a 2015 F350 and a 2014 Ram each same route about 75 miles each. I was set on buying the Ford. After driving both back to back I bought the Ram. The F350 for 2015 changed. Here is what I didn't like about the Ford after driving the 15 vrs 14 Ford. The dash is taller and hard to see over and judge where the fenders and front bumper is. We also observed a loud noticeable turbo fan type noise I hadn't noticed on the 14 F350. It reminded me of a 70's v8 with the fan clutch frozen. Way to noisy for me. The Ram was about 8k less than the Ford. My wife loves driving the Ram. She felt it was just like driving her Toyota Sienna. I thought the Ram was had much less highway and wind noise. The Ram has a killer sound system. I WENT TO SHOP THE FORD WITH THE INTENTION OF BUYING THE FORD AND NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THE RAM!!!!!!! You couldn't go wrong with either one. Just my .02 worth. I think the Ford will get slightly better fuel mileage. The dually is less than the single wheel. On the 75 mile trips both trucks got about 13.8 with a combo of mostly city and a little highway. There were some things about the Ford I still like better. I love the looks of the Ford.

Wow - haven't got that bad with my Navstar 2008, and hope I don't. 8 is pretty consistent towing, even over the Rockies, 7 if I have several regen cycles.

I hear your pain on the rear end, but think mine is fixed, at least hope it holds out till I'm tired of it.

With a F350 SRW on a 4000 miles trip through the western states we got 21.3 to the US gal without towing.

Last winter over about 3,000 miles to Southern California we got 14.3 to the US gal.

Drove my '08 from NC to OH over Thanksgiving to see the folks, not towing. I averaged about 17. When we towed from MA to NC last fall, we got about 12. Love my RAM and can't wait for a new one.

Fred, our '14 Ram cab chassis is about a week away, then it spends a week at the upfitter's getting its utility bed installed. I'm also curious about what the numbers will be, but I expect that the engine won't settle in for about 5k miles, so the early mileage numbers will be misleading. After that, we should have some reliable data. I can't wait for my first Saturday morning trip to the transfer station (the dump) ... The Ram is sure to get a lot of attention from the boys! And my little red pickup - a Dodge Dakota - will probably turn green with envy,
