What size hitch do you recommend for the 31sl? It weighs approx 12,100 plus generator and desperate washer and dryer. Gvw of 16000 like the others but thinking could get by with a 16k.

You need to get a 18K hitch. Never go equal or light only costs a few bucks more to get the 18K. We have an 18k and some Redwood owners have hitches that support 20 to 25K. We have a short bed Dodge DRW with an 18K Superglide hitch, works great. We recently purchased a TriGlide air ride pin box (being installed in the next 2 weeks). That new pin box along with air bags for the Dodge will smooth out the ride somewhat.

Go with a 18K at a MINIMUM, a 20K or 25K would be even better.

We have a FORD with the factory hitch prep package and went with the Reese 25K for our FB which weighs ~16K and have no problems.

Good luck,

Chuck

If you are using a Shortbed Pickup ~ I have a barely used PullRite Super Slide 4400 20k hitch for sale with universal rails all mounting hardware and the capture plate for the trailer.reasonable price. We went with a Dually and the Reese 25k hitch

We use the B&W companion with the B&W turnover ball as need the option to pull either 5th or gooseneck ,but also want flat floor when not towing. Companion also has side tilt in the head which cuts down on the hitch stress when turning on uneven roads. Have been using this setup for 15 years with no problems at all.

I too have a B&W Companion hitch and have had no problems, easy to hitch and unhitch with one person.

We also have the Ford factory prep package which is matched to the Reese hitch. For our local driving test they require RV GVWR + 20%, so we went with the 25K model.
