Auto Level Issue

We have a 2012 36RL and it has an issue with returning to the unhook position after auto level. We park, raise the front off the fifth wheel, unhook and auto level. When preparing to leave, we power up the Level Up and simultaneously press the left and right buttons. The system reacts by raising the front about 3-4 inches above the fifth wheel plate. It seems very consistent in its operation so I think it must be a calibration or memory issue. Otherwise, the system works flawlessly, always level within .1" Any ideas? The manual has nothing.

It doesn't return exactly to where it started. Mine is usually high.

Mine returns a little high also, but not 3 or 4 inches. I just back under part way, then lower the front putting a little weight on the hitch, then back the rest of the way in until the hitch latches.

I gave up a long time ago on the return system. It was inconsistent to say the least. The wife handles the adjustment manually as I back up. Works great every time!!!!!

Unless we get an error during the auto-level, ours always returns to the exact spot where we unhooked. Only exception to that is when we try to show someone how it works!

Not to hijack, but....
When I retract in Manual, there's quite a violent adjustment in the cylinder pressure as the coach will rock hard to whatever side, or end, I'm adjusting in manual mode. Anyone have that experience and if so, is it correctable? I think I may have scored one of my cylinders when the coach lurched upon a manual retract exercise.

I have used the auto return a few times and it seemed to all ways be a few inches to high when hooking back up the truck. I have the old school way that we used on previous trailer and 5er two magnets piece of string with washer attached at end. once I have disconnected the truck I put one magnet on the front of the pin drop the string until Washer is just touching the ground. Put the second magnet over the first pinching the string. Then pull the whole thing off the pin box toss it in the storage and hit auto level. When leaving manually adjust until washer is in same position and back the truck in works every time.

You didn't get one with yours? Sounds like a quality control issue! We have a system.........she prepares the inside(puts things away, closes and locks closet doors, locks shower door, velcroes the shower head), I prepare the outside(put things away in basement, climb upon roof and blow off slide roofs, drain and flush sewer system, put sewer hoses up, disconnect water) then we both hitch up(she controls the level up system). It works for us.

Rick - exactly the same as Tracy and I, one addition - we both verify hitch is latched by looking in to make sure we see the white paint on the jaws.

Not An Issue

This quirk doesn't rise to the level of an issue or even an annoyance. I just get curious when something doesn't work as advertised. I may be forced to do some additional digging.

I just recently painted my hitch jaws bright yellow so we, too, can verify the hitch is locked. I'm not sure if it was you or someone else recommending the paint, but it was a great idea.

I did the same thing painted them Yellow so I can verify they are locked and in place. I watched someone three weeks ago at campground loose their trailer because they forgot to lock the hitch and tried to pull away. It was not pretty messed up the bed of his new Dodge and bent the crap out of the tail gate.
