2001 Ford Ranger;

We have a 2013 36RE as well as a 2010 F350 Super Duty diesel dually. Our question is our RV set up to tow a 2001 Ford ranger 4x4, auto transmission? Any feedback on how to tow the vehicle?

My hitch says it was rated to tow 3000lbs with 300lb tongue weight, but I wouldn't trust it much past my bicycles weight. As far as your RW, you'll have to run lights & maybe power for auxiliary toad brakes, possibly beef up the hitch. Personally mine is a long as I care to be, but I've seen several 5ers towing vehicles, boats, atvs, motorcycles, so go for it.

You will need to look at a few things - you want to see what the GCWR of your truck is. My 2013 F350 Dually is 31,100 lbs but yours might be less. You will also need to look at the weight of the truck. Last, set the tow up like it was behind a gas Motorhome for the brake system.

I'm planning on towing a Mini Cooper, either the regular Mini or a Clubman. Either is well below 3000 lbs. I I'll be over length but not over my GCWR (and yes, the rig has been through both CAT scales and Smart Weigh to verify weight).
Going to use a Blue Ox towbar and a SMI Stay in Play Duo brake system (thanks again Brad). Should have the setup done in a few weeks and will have pics.

You should probably invest in a rear view camera as well. I had a hard time getting a wireless to display full time in tow, so I went to hard wired and cured that problem. The data needed to transmit full time to the cab wireless was just too much and it would lock up.

Ron (Titan Guy) had some good pics for beefing up the hitch a bit. I never got that far, but never had any trouble with our Wrangler for the few times I did it. (I confess I never got the brake finished either - sold it to Vaughn)
