Planning a trip

We are planning a trip to Yellowstone and Glacier National Park, just wanting some advice on things to do and good campgrounds. Also how the weather would be in late May or early June? And yes we'll be taking our Redwood, we have decided not to sell it.

Depends on what side of Yellowstone you want to stay on. West Yellowstone has one of the nicest parks I've ever been to, Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park. A little pricey, but they have beautiful spaces and it's only minutes from the west entrance. Rocky Mountain RV park in Gardiner is OK, if you want to stay on the north side of the park. I would recommend the west side.
Glacier has at least two we've stayed at. Columbia Falls RV Park, (18 miles west of west entrance is good, and also San Suz Ed, about 5 mi west of West Glacier, also good. Enjoy, both parks are superb and you could spend two weeks at each without getting bored.

At that time of the year, sections of Glacier may still be buried under SNOW!!
We were there several years ago in early June and the "Going to the Sun Highway" was closed mid-way thru because it was still under 80 feet of snow.
We stayed at Columbia Falls RV and it was fine.

I grew up in Columbia Falls and graduated high school there. (We won't say how long ago) My Dad worked summers in Glacier Park, so I spent many a summer day with him there; many special memories there. M & A are correct, many years the Going to the Sun Highway doesn't open until mid to end of June. September is the best time as far as I am concerned as July and August are very crowded.

We stayed at the Glacier KOA on the west side in 2007 - the campground was great - typical KOA where you get packed in, but we had grass and some were backup into the trees and the facilities are great!

After watching a documentary about the volcano at Yellowstone erupting on the Smithsonian channel yesterday, I'm a little hesitant to go anywhere near there. In fact, Brad, you and Dory et al might want to hightail it out of Colorado. We can all converge in Hattiesburg at Joel and Janis's spread. At least that was the game plan we came up with at the rally for the zombie apocalypse.

I am also watching this thread as we are looking at Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone. They say they have large pull through sites and full hookups including 50A.

Anyone know about this site?

As I understand from Discovery Channel, Yellowstone is one of a few super volcanoes, and if it goes, life on earth ends.
