Arizona Parks for the Winter

Wondering if I could get some suggestions for places to stay in Arizona. Thinking about going there for December to March. Any help would be appreciated.

We stayed at Val Vista Villages in Mesa mid October thru March and were very happy. Lots to do if you wish; activities, happy hours, etc. It is one of about a dozen parks under the Cal-Am umbrella.

We stay at KOA in Tucson easy off easy on I-10, kind of pricey $750 a month plus electricity.

We are interested in going to the Phoenix area this winter. Wanting a change from RGV. We usually don't leave until after Christmas and stay until early March. Are most places full?

The parks we go to are mostly full from Jan 1 thru March 31. You may get lucky, but I wouldn't bet on it. Most of our experience is the RV resorts in the Mesa area.

Although I haven't stayed there in the winter, we always go to Tucson in the summer, we have stayed at the Voyager RV resort on Kolb Rd, Tucson. It is a fantastic resort with a nice restaurant, laundromat, outdoor and indoor activities. It is an Encore, Coast to Coast, affiliated resort. I suspect it is pretty full during the winter season. Almost empty in July!

Just a heads up, when booking make sure they don't stuff you between park mobels, they did that to us one winter & it was very difficult to park & no other rvs around. Make sure they have a rv section.

Voyager in Tucson is very nice, Palm Creek Resort in Casa Grande is nice, & Havasu Falls in Lake Havasu City is nice but seemed a bit windy this March, there are a couple nice ones in Benson (east of Tucson) but can't recall the names right now. There are countless parks in that area you just to do some research to find what suits you.

We have stayed multiple times in Mesa, Apache Junction and have yet to find one that meets my primary requirement. Space. I do not like being crammed into a spot with no or very little parking.
Someone mentioned the KOA in Tucson which is very nice but pricey.
Sundance 1 in Casa Grande is my favorite so far.

We pass through Arizona on our way to southern California where we stay in one place for 3 months. The Tucson KOA is a good choice, good facilities and no park models, other then a couple of Kabins, the others in Tucson as mentioned above may get you stuck between park models (had that happen twice when the KOA was full with a rally).

We've also stayed on a lot in the Yuma foothills, reasonable rents but limited in terms of amenities, and we found Yuma to be too busy for our liking. We found the that RV parks that we've stayed at there are "old" (tight, sites built before slides and longer RV's) but they have have good amenities.

If you are prepared to move around a bit, the state parks are a nice change as well.

Thanks for the comments from everyone. it helps a lot to hear real life experiences rather than just reading web site ads.
