Waxing your Redwood

Any wax recommendations for our Full Body Paint Redwood?

I especially like to keep the front cap waxed so the bugs and such clean off easier.

Don't use a regular auto wax until your paint is about 4-5 months old. If you do, you'll seal the clear coat and this will prevent the paint from breathing. You'll end up with a dull finish that can't be undone.

All the paint shops use a product made by "Presto" called "Fast Wax". This stuff goes on easy and does a great job. You can also use it in the hot sun.

Look it up on the internet or buy it at any auto paint supply store but it's about 1/2 price on the internet.

There are a couple of guys here where we are workcamping with beautiful class A's who swear by WashWax All, a dry wash/wax product. They say you apply this stuff to a relatively clean surface[ they use it for their rig and toad vehicles, you just spray it on and wipe it off with a microfiber cloth.

Anyone here know anything about it, used it?

Use WasWaxAll frequently. Was originally developed for aircraft. Works like a champ and doesn't build up. The more you apply it the better the results.
You can get it at most pilot shops or aviation supply by the quart or gallon.

On our last gel-coat 5th Wheel I used Rejex, great product, not sure if it is good for painted surface.

I like Colinite Insulator wax on the caps and front of my truck camper.

Sigh, about to do this in the coming week. Worked on getting the bugs off the nose on Sunday. Not looking forward to washing everything followed by the spray wax others have mentioned...

I'm telling ya

be lazy like me and go by a blue beacon truck wash - have been using them for the last 3 rv's and always good results...

even after our trip to the low country around Savannah where we killed a gazillion bugs on the way back - it came out fine...

I would worry it'd cause problems with the fridge, I fear what happens if water is sprayed up there.

Is it a high pressure wash and wax? Just envisioning a regular automatic car wash except a gigantic version that can wash tractor/trailers...

I can relate, I shut down mine just with the spray from my hose while washing, now I cut the flow WAY down when I get near the fridge vents.

understand - to each his own...
it's all hand done and since they have done "one or two" rv's before...
- from all indications they know about decals and fridges and vents... etc...

Let's say this,
some of those truckers are sorta 'anal' about the trucks they own and
if the guys doing theirs have not been killed by a few teamsters, then they'll know how to take care of my lil rv...

What do you mean "hand done"? Are they washing the rigs by hand?

Sorry it seems I need to be questioned,
am not selling it - to each his own...

I say hand done as opposed to a drive thru machine...
in that it's people holding sprayers...

think the video shows that - how they jump on each vehicle that comes thru...

none of my rv's have been hurt by it nor any on the forums that we've talked about it -
on irv2.com or on rv.net or FTE or... good luck ! gotta go back to work now

I had my big truck washed at Blue Beacon and Twisted Sisters through out the years and I would not have that high of a PSI spray on my Redwood sorry just me.

Me to, although I use the local mobile chaps at Indian Waters in Indio. Three guys working for a couple of hours, hand washed, waxed and detailed - looks better than new when finished.

I provide moral support by consuming a hopped beverage while they are at work.

Andy,

What do the local mobile chaps at Indian Waters in Indio charge for doing your RW? I am thinking about using the Blue Beacon in Fort Wayne when I return from Washington state. Then, when we go to Florida this winter I will get a full wash and wax job.

Guy

I've used the Blue Beacon truck washes with my Redwood without any problems at all.

I use Blue Beacon wherever possible. As I am full time, at least monthly. I had hand waxed in Houston in Feb. and planning Indio hand wax in Nov. Paid $300 in Houston
