TPMS Recommendations

Given my recent tire failure experience I am looking at TPMS kits for our RW. The TST 507 flow through appears to receive high marks from RV'ers. Would welcome comments and suggestions.

I have had the 507 with the non flow through sensors for several years. Never had a problem with them other than needing to replace the batteries in the sensors.

The system paid for itself a few weeks ago. I made a turn at a highway intersection. A few seconds later the low pressure alarm went off. By the time I got stopped on a side street the pressure was already down to 50psi. I had picked up a large piece of metal in one of the rear tires. Had I not had the system I'm not sure I would have known the tire went down until something worse happened.

Since I had the system, it only cost me the price of a new G614.

I have the TST 507 with flow thru and love it. Have had the flow thru for 3 years. Previously had the non flow thru which I put on truck. If you get TST I would definitely recommend the flow thru as best way to go.

Thanks to all for your insights. The TST 507 flow through will get a close look.

I also have the TST 507 for 5 years now, great system, has saved my several times.
Also when I needed support and some replacement O Rings, they sent me replacements at no charge, TST is a great company

I have the flow through sensors on the RV and the non-flow through sensors on our Ford Duallie. The non- flow through anti theft wrench is a bit of a pain to use on the inner dual wheels and I've found the programming of the sensors to be a bit challenging but I wouldn't be without a TPMS. Our old system saved us numerous times, stuff like drywall screws in the trailer tires causing slow leaks that you wouldn't see just by looking until the tire exploded on the road because of low pressure/high temperatures

I have the non flo thru TST 507 on all 10 tires for 3+ years & have only replaced The batteries in about 1/2 of them, they work great.
Just curious, those with the flo thru on the duals are they too close to inflate? On mine I'm fairly certain they would be almost touching. I took the anti theft devices off the first time I removed the caps, one less PITA, & they haven't walked off yet.

IMO --just be sure the system allows you to change the batteries yourself. You do not want to have a system where you need to return the sensors to have the batteries changed. I also like the units where the sensor is internally mounted. Less possibility of damage to the valve stem and easier to balance the tire. Also this type can send the temp of the tire to the receiver giving warning if the tire gets too hot but is still inflated.

I just purchased the TST 507 w/flow thru sensors. Do I need to have the wheels balanced with the sensors installed?

It doesn't seem to be a problem on mine.

TST 507 Flow Through Sensor Display when out of range

I just installed the 507 flow through sensors on my four trailer tires. While testing the range (to see if I needed the repeater), I noticed that leaving the trailer behind in storage and the display on, the display retained the last settings and there was no notification or blank display indicating that the sensors were out of range. I left the trailer in storage and 35 minutes and many miles down the road, the displays were still showing the last known values.

What would happen driving down the road with the trailer connected should any interference occur and the display was no longer communicating with the sensors? How would I know the readings were just the last known and no longer current?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks,
Gene

I think that is common. My Tyrminders does that too. If I don't take the Jeep behind us, it takes hours for the TPMS to notice, but if you unscrew a transmitter when in range - it is instant display of pressure loss.

I have the same 507's (with the repeater) and noticed the same issue. As Adam noted, an open or missing TX should sound an alarm.
