The question was asked on another RV forum and I figured I'd ask here and see if anybody knows the answer. My trailer was ordered with "G" rated tires, will it come with the same 7000 pound axles? I would assume it would but someone else suggested that it might come with a heavier axles rating. Along the same lines would the sticker show a greater cargo carrying capacity since it will have stronger wheels and tires?

I believe the axles are the same. the 8000# axles are an up grade and that is the only way you can increase your gross carring capacity. I do not think just adding the G rated tires will increase your load limits but I could be wrong.

According to Tom, the 8000lbare an up grade and with the g rated tires you increase the pay load to 18,000.

the E tire is a st235/80/r16 rated at around 2700 or 2800 pounds you can find Michelins rated at 3042 pounds. the G's are the same size but have a higher load rating.

They do increase the the rating to 18000#'s that is amazing!but is that with the g"s as well as the 8000# axles to get the 18000# rating?

yes. the 8,000lbaxles with the G rated tires. Goodyear also makes an H rated. If I remember, it's a 14 ply with steel side walls.

So do they increase the rating by just installing the G rated tire at all?

No, but you will sleep better with the G rated as you might over load the E rated tires.

with the weight of the reddwood it would be real easy to overload the E rated tires.

Kinda curious about the notion of an axle upgrade being part of the upgrade to G-Rated tires.

I got the G-Rated tire upgrade on my 2012 36FB. Happened to notice that the lug nut size on the Redwood is larger than on my 'old' 2011 Montana 3750FL with E-Rated tires and 7,000 pound Dexter axles.

Could that possibly mean an axle upgrade was unknowingly part of my tireupgrade???

That isa very good question. Do you know the bolt pattern of both axels? They shold be the same.

They are both eight-lug axles.

The G-Rated tires/wheels on the Redwoodhave 7/8" lug nuts (bigger than the Montana's lug nuts for E-Rated tires/wheelswith 7,000 pound Dexter axles)

I know I paid a small fortune to upgrade from Es to Gs. Didn't know 8,000 pound axle upgrades were even offered???

Could I have possibly gotten something (an axle upgrade) for 'nothing' ???

That is wishfull think! I think the G614's only include the upgrade in wheels.

I sent an email to the factory rep to see what he says.. I paid $1600 for the upgrade of the tires and wheels but there wasn't anywhere on the order form for an axle upgrade. Now I have my fingers crossed!

From what I found out the axles are a 1200 or 1400 upgrade. As to the lug size all lippert did was to use a larger stud to hold the wheel to the drum or rotor if you have the disc brake option. So you probably did not get the 8000# axles. The rep told me they use the same wheel for the E and G rated tires they just use a different valve stem to handle higher presures.

I had a call from the Factory earlier this evening with a couple of questions on our order, so while I had him on the phone I asked about the 8000 Lb axles and G614s. Nope still get the 7000 Lb axles. He said the 8000 Lb axles would be to much of an over kill and would beat the unit to death with the heavier suspension.

Well I still might go with the 8K axles....I've really been pondering this. I've already ordered the disk brakes and G rated tires. I figure the ccc with the generator should be around 3K. I'm thinking right now before I full time I'll have around 2500lbs in the trailer.Am I better off with a trailer that will bewithin 1000 lbs of the limit going down the road smoother or a trailer 3000lbs from the limit riding rougher?

I'll appreciateall thoughts and ideas on this. What have you other full timers found so far?
