We have a 2012 Redwood 36rl without full body paint. We have it waxed by hand every year. We live in it full time and when not traveling it is under cover all the time. The end caps, when the rig is under cover, are exposed to the rising and setting sun, although protected by large trees. Last year while wintering in FL we noticed the end caps were slightly oxidizing. We had our guy take care of that while waxing the entire rig. This year, again, we had oxidation, even more than last year. Our detailer again took care of it, although he told us it would come right back. He also said that he heard that Redwood in some cases was replacing the end caps because,in the early models, the uv protection was left out. According to him this was being done out of warranty under their goodwill program. Has anyone heaRd whether this is true or not.

You could contact Redwood. At one time they were painting the caps that had faded but I believe it was within the 2 year warranty. At this point I'm guessing you are beyond even the five year so I'm not sure what the response will be.

The only cure is to have them painted. No need to replace them.

I have a 2012 RE my front cap has faded and the oxidation ran from top to bottom. I got this product called Poli Glow. It is real easy to use and took about 2 hours to complete. I did it 7 months ago and it still looks brand new. You can buy it at amazon I paid 79.00 for it.

I was told about the Poli-Glow product about 3 years ago and it was given high praises by a motor home owner that I met out in Colorado. I have been considering trying the product on the end caps on my 2012 36RL standard finish as they are now very faded.

You are the first Redwood owner that I have heard of using the product. When you applied the product, did you go through the standard Poli-Glow prep process to get the gel coat ready for the final application?

Glad to hear that it has held up well for you. I think that is one of my summer projects.

Hi,
I used this stuff on my 1978 Tanzer 26 sailboat... the results were amazing!
You need to follow the instructions and use the prep liquid first... several bottles may be required for a Redwood. I used a 10" squeegee style applicator of the same material rather than the small cloth they provide to apply the second coating.
You will need to wash the unit with mild soap and water over the season. If you are careful you can just wash and re-apply the top coat next year.
If you clean too aggressively, you will have to start the process all over.
