Popping Sounds - Lippert Hydraulics System?

Our 2015 RL38 has popping sounds that we are concerned might be the hydraulic system. We read on another RV owners website that this is a problem with Lippert and that a hydraulic fluid additive would help. Lippert suggested Torco but that did not help their issue. The RV manufacturer then recommended that Catepillar Hydraulic Oil Additive 1U-9891 would be the best. My question: has anybody with a Redwood had this problem and do you have a resolution?

Yes....
in fact, ours would drop and pop during the night when we were sleeping !
Talk about a quick start

but the hyd fluid corrected it...

IIRC, but please check the proper method -
drain a quart, put in half a quart, excercise it a bit, then put the rest in...

I installed two quarts of Torco and it did not solve the popping which occurs in hot weather and particularly with temperature changes. Suggest you try Caterpillar as others seem to have had better luck with it.

There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on the issue. I took it to the dealer and they took care of it. I am not sure fluid they added. It did take care of most of the popping.

Had same issue, Torco used. Lippert tech also bled the hydraulic system by starting with rear jack retracted and extending then retracting the front jacks 3-5 times then doing the same on the rear jacks. This was done in Jan and no issues since.

Could this also be an issue with the slide hydraulics? I have a 38FL and the last week or so when extending the main slides (bedroom + kitchen) and the large kitchen slide starts to move I hear a loud popping.

I thought it might be mechanical but could it be hydraulic since the main slide is I think hydraulic.......

I would not expect to see the hydraulic jack popping issue appear in the slides. The jacks popping issues are caused by large swings in temp change on the two types of metals used in the cylinders. For popping sounds on the hydraulic slides I would recommend you check for obstructions or alignment issues.

I'm thinking that the popping when extending slides could be the large sweeper seals reversing their position as the slide is extended or retracted. I know my bedroom slide has a tendency to make a lot of noises when opening and closing.

I would agree, the popping is a temperature thing and I don't think the slide movement could be impacted by that.
