Peep hole gone, Window Installed!

Well, we took the plunge yesterday and installed a front door window in the Redwood. It helped having a buddy that owned a glass shop and installed custom windows!

One of his tricks is that if the saw was causing chipping, he reversed the saw blade (backwards) and cut the door.

Photos are showing the window before we finish the trim work on the caulking.

BTW, we bought the window in Mexico this past winter for our Montana. The colors worked out ok!

Did the trim part come with the window, or is that something you got from your buddy ??

Yes, grapes they are....we are in the middle of Sonoma County wine country, about 20 acres of Chardonnay behind our back fence! The photo doesn't do the color justice as the grapes match the red on the rig! What luck!

The trim I ordered through Amazon, it's standard size for RV's although there is an inside and outside piece. About $11.00 each

I am a big fan of stained glass. Just a couple of questions:
Is it a true stained glass piece and if so, are you concerned about it coming apart going down the road, bouncing etc.??
Also, do you think it will "leak" heat or air or is it not a big deal ??

Nice job, I don't know if I could even watch someone else do that !!

Yes, it is true stained glass. I don't think I'll have a problem with it. I know several that have put them in their RV's and not aware of any breakage. Also, given the slides and all the air leaks around the seals, I'm not concerned about the r value of the window. These things aren't very air tight to begin with.

Hope that helps!

Dan,

I had the window buttoned up in the Rv when we met in Arizona. The one the year before didn't make it home in one piece (lousy packing job). This one made the trip and survived the install!

This is the window I've considered installing. Would love a full size one in the office. If it's hot out I have to close the door to keep it cool, even with the window it's dark. It would be nice to have a full size window in that back door.
