Installed MorRyde HD Shackles and Wet Bolt Kit

I pulled my brake drums and inspected my brakes, packed the bearings and replaced the grease seals, balanced the tires and installed the MorRyde HD Shackles and Wet Bolt Kit.

The brakes looked fine, one grease seal was starting to leak a little grease, and one dust cap was not fully seated causing some grease to sling out on the inside of the rim.

When removing the stock shackles and stock wet bolts, I found the Trail Air Center Suspension unit had Bronze Bushings in it but the springs have plastic bushings on both ends.
Sure does not make much sense to have a Bolt with a grease fitting and a plastic bushing.

I replaced the Plastic Bushings in the springs with the Bronze Bushings that came with the MorRyde kit.

These should be standard on these heavy rigs, minus the plastic bushings.

Exactly what I thought - didn't think twice about it. I should have known better because I even installed the kit on our Montana.

Yep, I installed the MorRyde HD Shackle / Wet Bolt Kit on our Pinnacle, so I knew what I was getting into.

I still think for as much travel as we do, it is a good investment.

Is this something an average person can do? When I was looking at the pictures, I can't figure out where the bottle jack is located.
Thanks.

Robert, my part # was U12-021. Yes the average guy can perform this with a jack or 2 & an assortment of hand tools. Jack probably under axle tube.

You are right Danny, I ordered the shorter Shackles for the SRE 4000 which I still may install sometime in the future.

Hope they do not cause a interference problem with the Equaflex

I agree, fairly easy to install with common hand tools and a bottle jack.
The jack is under the spring plate.

I was wondering if anyone has installed the SRE4000, and if they saw any improvement? The stock suspension seems kind of puny

I am still thinking about installing the SRE 4000, have not decided yet.

I installed the SRE 4000 on our Jayco Pinnacle and was pleased with the performance.

I noticed you installed the wet bolts from the outside in, instead of the inside out. Would it be easier to grease in the future if the zerk was on the inside so you would not have to remove the tires or does it really matter? It looks great though, a project I will probably accomplish soon.

Sounds like Rick has a great idea as it would simplify maintenance.

I installed the fittings on the inside on our Jayco Pinnacle when I installed the wet bolts on it due to access.

On our Redwood, I have no problem accessing the fittings from the tire side with my grease gun.

I am glad this is posted now, I am in the process of getting to drag the RW home. This I will be taking a job thirty minutes from the house. Okay back on topic, I have two wet bolts that will not take grease. I had to stop and go into work and did not get to take a good look. Are the grease sert's removal.

They make pressed in fittings and screw in fittings, I never thought to look and see what type they are.
My guess is which ever on is cheaper is what they used.

I will bet that you are right which ever is cheapest. I think I will pick up a sert cleaner after church and see if that will help.

My original zerks were all threaded & I changed out several, but still wouldn't take grease. I also installed the Mor ryde kit & found out then that the bushings on both spring eyes were worn out plastic & that's probably why
they wouldn't grease. Didn't check Mor ryde zerks, they appear to be threaded.
