That sounds like a good idea

We bought a system last month for $2,400 - single solar panel ($600), 1500W inverter, wiring, switches and installation. With only a 1500 W inverter we will be unable to run the microwave.

Whendeveloping the specificationsour statement of requirements included keeping the batteries charged and to provide AC for lighting, electronics and small appliances when not on shore power. Predominent location will be sunny climates. If you want to use the microwave on batteries you require the 2000W inverter, which was an extra $200 to $300.
Andy, that sounds like a great system, did you buy it as a kit?

Brad, Tell Dave what batteries that you want and he should get it approved with Doug Richards...But also be sure they are actually in the boxes before you leave...During my PDI they didn't have them in the box but they were sitting beside the trailer before I hooked up...Good thing I checked they thought the batteries were for the trailer next to mine...They only put type 24 Interstates in because they say that is all they carry....But I bet if you asked far enough in advance they could have their dealer bring 27's or 29's...Ihad to take mine to an Interstate dealer and had them changed for type 27's...Cost me a total of $15.00 for 2...Wish I had known that 29's would have fit

Dave,

It was one of the packages our dealer developed with the solar panel manufacturer at the recent RV show. You could also purchase the items individually.

We will try it out and if needs dictate another panel is required we will add a 2nd at a later date.

Thanks Royce. I'm still waiting to see if our sale goes through on the Montana. If not I'll pull the 6V golf carts out of it and put them in the RW before we leave. If it does sell I'll leave them in the Montana and see what I can work out at the Dealer. We are stilla while out yet I think.

Royce, it's ordered and I already have the VIN#. The title work already calls it a 2013 so I'm pretty sure it won't be a 2014. The only snag we hit is they quit making the King in the slide-in-a-slide so we did the king only, and the Sanoma interior is discontinued. Went to Godiva.

Dave thinks by end of month, so I think we got in before the shows. Fella is flying in to look at Montana next week, and would pick it up in Canton if its a go.Edited by: atom ant
