Heated water hose

Has anyone used the Camco Freeze Ban 2000 50' heated hose? What was your experience with it?

I bought the Pirit hose. Stiff as can be hard to unravel especially when you need it in the cold. The heated hose worked fine but the campgrounds pipe to the hose froze.

I did buy a camco heated hose but was not allowed to use it. The campground required heat tape so that you could also wrap heat tape at the end around the campground pipe.

I use the Pirit version here in OR all winter with no issues. I place two of the styrofoam covers of the water faucet end on CG Connection and had no issues with freezing. But our lowest temp this winter was around 23 Degrees and only for a few days.


I did not use it all summer so that it would last during winter use this was out 3rd year using the heated hose so far it has worked out very well.

I figured I would only use it during winter also. I have my RW at my home and here in Tennessee. Our winters get pretty cold but only short times of temps around 18-25* I winterized the unit but need it off and on with my kids coming to visit I decided I would just buy a heated hose. The unit is heated all winter anyway so I might as well bring water to it. I have 50 amp service and sewer connected here at the house. During winter I disconnect the sewer and water, but with the kids and grandkids coming and going it is pointless to keep it winterized.

I bought one at CW a couple of years ago. It leaked right away, and the thermostat was on the male end. I returned it and made my own- hose, aluminum foil, heat tape, and water pipe insulation. A bit hard to coil as you cant roll it as tight. I'm on my third winter using it, and still works fine.

Mine came with female ends on both ends of the hose and a male/male adapter. I used the plug in above the city water inlet. So far so good.

Bought pirit 25' hose insulated hose with pipe foam and taped
Have a camco brass 90° elbow attached to redwood thermostat on heated hose is a few inches below chassis tie wrapped to hose from factory the top is exposed to outside air

I am wondering if this setup is right or wrong?
Don't see any power or indicator light to see if it even comes on?
Wondering if there is another brand or version that is favored?

We have a pirate 50' heated hose that we have used during the winter for two years it worked very well. We used a 90 degree elbow and quick connect so that thermostat would hang out of water Bay to activate heat. We used in temp down to 10 degrees with no issues. I had remote temperature gauge in water bay so that I could monitor the temperature in side the bay. I had singe 100 watt bulb set up with remote on off if needed.
