Entry Steps

Now that we're living in the coach we're finding we really don't like the stock steps. Too flimsy and bouncy.

Question - I know the MorRyde steps are good, but I'm not wild about having them swing up inside the coach and I'm also thinking they can be a pain while traveling. I'll do them if needed but not my first choice.

Anyone using any kind of upgraded , sturdy, folding steps that fit the well ? If so, what are they and do you like them ?

I switched to the Aluminum Steps. They are easy to put up and down. So much so, I wondered if they would flip out during a turn.

They are even more bouncy then the original steel steps. I am guessing, that if the step does not hit the ground, it is going to be bouncy.

We also switched to the Aluminum Steps a few years ago and work great. Very easy to open and close but still have the bounce. Since your at one place for some time now what I use may work for you also. I purchased on Amazon I think and if not it was Camping World. It's just a small pipe with another one that threads in and out with 3"x3"plates on both ends. I attached a larger piece of wood on both ends and slide it under the step and adjust. Works well for us and I also was not to liking the way the others lift into the opening. Thought if they slipped I would end up with a good headache.
I've tried many steps and as soon as you add that forth step you get a lot of bounce.

Now.... We need Moryde to come out with the ones you lift into the door opening but electric with remote and then we will have a nice set of steps.

We purchased the MORryde steps at the rally this year. Lisa LOVES these steps. She has not been able to open the steps for years... she is able to pull these down. The are so sturdy. We added the handrail, which I think is a good addition. We sweep them before we take off each time. We stop regularly and so far haven't been any place they we couldn't pull them out.

We had the added brace we used for stability with the original steps. It made them better, but still not as sturdy as the MORryde. Also the rise and slope on the steps seems to be shorter, it is also easier to manage.

Ours came with aluminum 4step entry. I love it. It's very stable and you can adjust the leg length for uneven terrain. The only fuss is that any debris on the steps will fall into the coach when you stow them. I have a bench brush to brush off the steps before I raise them.

MuddFap is correct, the new RWs are coming with the Lippert version of the Mor/ryde steps, or at least some are, don't know if it's across the board or just certain Models.

Go to RV-co.com for collapsible aluminum steps.
We got them this summer and love them. My wife has a bad knee from surgery and these were invented by a guy in that same situation! They have a shorter rise than normal steps and the platform at the top is great for the 1st step out of the trailer!

I loved the new MORryde steps when I saw them, but was concerned about putting them out at the house here..

I measured the steps, then came home and did some measuring, We have a row of arborvitae along side of the RW to block it from the neighbor that the steps will hit. They would have been a nice addition, but digging up plants/trees is not what I want to do, especially since I upgraded to the new Lippert aluminum 4 step this summer and they are hands down superior over the stock steel ones..

We added the MORryde steps at the 2016 Rally. Very happy with steps as they are very stable. My wife was having problems with knees with standard fold up steps bounce. Highly recommend, Grabbing hand rail is not as important as stock steps since steps are solid and do not have bounce. Adjustable feet for unlevel ground conditions. Sweeping off step before folding not a problem, more challenge getting sand & gravel on Redwood floor if wearing shoes into trailer.

We just added the MORryde 4 step and love them. It took about 20min to install. Now I'm looking for a storage box to fit the removed steps. Ordered one and the shipped the wrong one. Looks like I will need to make a larger hole or infill around to fit a 24" box. I'll post pics when complete.

I purchased the MORryde steps earlier this year. We love it. However just a couple of points to consider. The install requires that you notch the wood trim on the inside of the door. Also you must consider where you stop when you are traveling. If you stop to close to curb it can be a problem. If you stop on uneven ground on the right side where it causes the steps to not reach the ground that can be a problem. Thus far it has not presented a problem that I could not plan for. One all I love the steps and how sturdy they are.

Discovered last night with a conversation with Gary from MorRyde that they also offer in a removable version. Two mount are installed just below entry door and steps clip on and off. Store in basement or truck bed when traveling. I'm going this route.

Hey, I'll have to hit up Gary for my cut of that idea. I suggested making them removeable when at the Rally.
