DW and Gen

There were a lot of fixes tossed out about grounds and the dishwasher running on generator. Did any of those come to fruition??

Mine has always worked on generator, but I know a lot do not. I have a buddy that just installed a gen in his new coach and dishwasher does not work. If we figured out a fix I would like to pass it on. Theresa, Yale, anybody remember?

My fix was to put a dedicated inverter in that the DW is always hooked to. It guaranties a constant voltage no matter the power source.

Ah didn't realize you did that. There was somebody that posted a grounding issue and fix, floating ground, something like that. I can't find it anymore, and I don't know if anybody tried it with success.

Brad,
That might have been me. DW and washer has a problem with the floating ground on a Honda (portables). I made up an NG plug whereby the neutral and ground are wired together. That plug goes into the Honda solving the problem.

The on board gens are supposed to be grounded so I'd suspect there is a grounding issue.

I remember that Ken, thank you. It was a floating ground issue. Someone chimed in and provided a large writeup they got from someone outside the group, maybe that was you?

No, but I saw the article too. He was a MOC member that published a very interesting article about the floating ground. That's why I think there might be a relationship with the problem.........

That floating ground HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! I chased it and it's not the issue, the issue is the super sensitive circuit board on the FP dishwashers. If it were a floating ground issue the Onan tech explained to me almost no appliance would work ... I spent $300 labor in that wild goose chase. Don't waste your time or money.

Yale,
Sorry, I must be mixing apples and oranges. The NG plug is clearly for portable generators. Absent the NG plug on my Honda, the DW or washer would not run. After I installed it, these appliances work fine.

Here is the article on the NG plug. Generator Ground-Neutral Bonding | No~Shock~Zone

My dishwasher works great whether I am on the onan or electric. As soon as I am done eating she gets up and does the dishes.

Some don't have an issue and some do I guess. Mine would never run on it, not from delivery. I know Brad has never had a problem.
Ken I think you are right, the floating Ground is a big problem on portables.

I'm never selling my Redwood - I have lucked out on so many angles! (quietly knocking on wood)

Thanks for find the report anyway Ken - I'll send it to him and let him be the judge. I'll give him Yale's experience as well.

Shane, if your DW ever reads these forums she'll more than likely have a new DW & you'll be able to fit in his boots.
