Disc Brake Conversion
You Redwooders who have done the Kodiak or Titan disc brake conversions, I'd like to get a sense of whether I should spring for Timken bearings for the install or go with the non-Timken bearings. Our resident disc brake expert feels that with repacking every year the Chinese bearings would be OK. What do the rest of you think?

I went with what Ron told me to go with... He knows more than I will ever attempt to... And with yearly repacking I should be fine . . .

I really think anyone who has a preference for a US Made Bearing should do it. There is no downside. If you can afford a Redwood you certainly can afford Timken bearings.

Now what's wrong with this picture
Whether or not I could afford Redwood is irrelevant - why couldn't REDWOOD afford Timken bearings? or Goodyear tires? or bronze bushings.... Clearly me throwing money at the Redwood to buy it just meant I didn't shop well

No brainer ~ when I did ours, I had the Timkens put in. Gary at MORryde encouraged it. Wasn't all that much more $$ if I remember . Think it was an additional $35-40 / wheel

I just upgraded the suspension on our 2012 36RL to the Mor/Ryde SRE 4000 and Heavy Duty Shackles Kit. I have the Kodiak Disk brakes and I also decided to upgrade the wheel bearings to Timken bearings/races and packed the bearings myself. Should only require repacking each year for the next few years.
