We pulled out if Trenton GA this morning and forgot to lower our antenna! Anyone know if it's normally a total loss if we still have the components? Ugh....we are in FL niw, but the cable stations the resort has do not seem to include news stations. If we have to replace should we just get the Dish or Direct TV instead? Thanks for your help!

I am using a Winegard Carryout (attached to my ladder) that has two satellite connections, living and bedroom, have Dish Network so I require two boxes.
Not using the two roof connections provided for roof top satellites. Running the cables and power down the ladder and under the coach to the satellite connections in the utility connection bay.

Eileen,

which antenna did you sacrifice? Assuming its the OTA antenna, generally it is not repairable. some have been replacing their OTA with a low profile JACK Digital TV Antenna that you don't have to raise or lower. Might want to give it a try??

Eileen,

If it just damaged the Sensar head (bat wing), you can replace that cheap (~$40) and it goes in with cotter pins. I replaced mine already. If it got the arms, those may be by order only.

Even if you go to satellite, don't give up your standard antenna - lots of good HD over the air channels out there.

It was the original antenna that was on our 2013 36RL. now wouldn't you think that if your telling me to be sure to unplug the TV in the bedroom because it has turned on in transit before, that the next thing you would do is crank down the antenna? Oh well...I've never made that kind of mistake myself. LOL
By the way thank you Adam the bat wing was what we found broke on top of the RV. I think we need to do some research before we replace this monster!

Go black - I did!

I was working on the roof and turned around and walked right into mine bending it and breaking a wing.

I was thinking about that Adam! I noticed yesterday that all the heat pumps were black on top and the antenna was white. I know white looks bad after a few yesrs and wondered if they had it in black! Thanks so much!

We have replaced our antenna twice on our 36FL the first time by choice and we installed a magic jack antenna head (black color) and it worked great until it had a little argument with a tree limb and lost. We then replaced the antenna with a antenna that does not have to be raised or lowered made by the same company, and we are having great success with that antenna as well. We also have the wingard slim line satellite for directv and we can watch 4 tv's all on different channels at the same time (great when grandkids are with us and football season is going on)

The Rayzar replacement head (flyswatter) also comes in black if you decide to go that way. The Automatic rayzar will also be available in black.

We are trying to decide if we should hook up to Brighthouse, Dish or Direct TV. We need Internet more than anything......suggestions? The lady at the RV park here said it internet is slow because of all the people on it. So I will need my own hook up.

I just use my Verizon hot-spot on my phone for internet. I think they just doubled our capacity to 10gb/month at no extra charge, but new subscribers get an even better rate.

We use the Wifi when the signal is strong enough, but when it is not, I switch to our Air Card.
Been working for us for 3 years as we travel coast to coast.

Verizon jetpak also, had very good luck using it from coast to coast. We use either OTA or park cable & have plenty to watch without the satellite hassle or expense.

Essentially x2.

We have a RoadTrip Mini-Max set up for Dish Network TV and the Verizon Jetpak for internet. Only had 2 or 3 times the Dish did not work..........one of those was when we were parked in the Fort Lewis Travel Camp in Washington with 150 foot trees surrounding us. So far, the Jetpak has worked for us everywhere we have been located.

Eilen,

I'm not sure you can get both TV & internet on a single sat dish...I've seen DISH advertise both together but haven't investigated. Many years ago I had sat internet [couldnt get DSL] in our S&B home but had to have a separate sat antenna for it.

Like several others on here, we use sat for TV and Verizon cellular for internet. Our setup is a little different, instead of using a jetpack I use a USB modem plugged into a Cradlepoint router, gives me more control.

We used to have Millenicom, a Verizon data reseller but they transitioned everything back to Verizon a few months ago. Cant say the transition has been flawless...Verizon is not my best friend!!! Service is fine but their customer service/support is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!

I am with Sprint unfortunately and my kids pay us for their cell phones and only this past month did a two year upgrade on their phone. So, I guess I am stuck with Sprint for another two years. I know they have hot spot service too, but if their hot spot service is as good as their cell service I would be in trouble. I am having issues right now with my Sprint service and I am in Clermont, FL .....where we are to be for the next six months! We can get Brighthouse Cable and Internet here for an additional 130.00 a month. That would be fine except the RV park we are in provides cable free. I am going to need to do more research and see what others around us are doing. Thanks for all your suggestions!

Eileen

IMO here in the US Verizon has the best COVERAGE, AT&T is a close second. Both do a pretty good job here in the east but things get pretty weird on the other side of the Mississippi. Sprint and T-Mobile don't really compare to the big 2, there there are a bunch of local/regional carriers.

All of them offer data only plans but you have to dig, they like to sell the bundled service so finding data only plans can sometimes get tricky.

Good luck and keep us posted with findings!!

I bought the jetpack today. Thank you everyone who made the Verizon suggestion. I went with 10GB of data which I hope will be enough. During the busy season in photography I upload a lot of photos for weddings. The two options I was given was 5GB for 50.00 or 10.00GB for 80.00. I am going to check out the phone package too because they told me when things are bundled it is cheaper.

We have the jet pack and phone bundle. Very pleased with the service. Also if you are retired military and I believe a veteran, by showing your ID card or DD214 you can receive a 10 per cent discount
