Bedroom TV

How do you remove the TV in the bed room?

It's not an easy task, after all the vibration it wedges in the bracket very tight, so you just have to get mean to get it off.

Look up Atom Ant's SK-1000 pic on this site and you'll see the sat cable connectors beneath a circular cap caulked to the roof in front of and to the curb side of the rear AC unit.

It's the exact control cable you need for the Winegard Travler antenna. As stated, the other end comes out on the roof.

Brad, I ordered my antenna from Amazon and did not open the box as i am going to have my dealer install it when my new trailer gets here. Do you have to order the controller seperate or does it come with the antenna. I did order the Dish receivers.

The control box will be inside with the antenna, as well as another control cable. I used the control cable that came with the antenna and spliced it into the Redwood cable on the roof so I could get the extra length need to reach the antenna. The splice is all tucked neatly down in the ceiling.

Many people have talked about having a roof mounted sat dish and said that they wish they would have gotten a different type. Do you find that the RV parks have trees that block direct line of site for satellite? I love the idea that it is on the roof affixed and have less chance of it sprouting legs.

I think that reasoning for not having one may be over-rated.

At least here in the wide open west, I don't recall ever having a problem, but to be fair I would expect to have a problem if I was to park in a thickly wooded area. Many times the campground will ask if I need a "satellite friendly" area because they have areas with known issues. There are times I'm not sure, so I test it before unhooking, but I don't remember ever moving as a result.

I always figured plan B would be a portable pod in the basement I could use in an area where I couldn't get a signal on the roof, but those don't work with a Hopper anyway so plan B never came to be.

That makes sense to me for sure. My wife and I are going to be workampers in about a year. With that said I am trying to get the Redwood set up to be able to do this.

I've done it both ways with sat TV, I started with a dish on a tripod that was used for satellite internet with an LNB attached to allow receipt of TV.

A couple of years ago I put a Winegard dish on the roof of the Redwood for TV and I still use the tripod for sat internet.

Each winter on our transit from Ontario Canada to southern California we hit a couple of treed campgrounds that prevent TV reception, they are generally in the north where the dish angle is lower. We found the state park folks are good in providing a satellite friendly site if you ask them.

With a tripod or a portable dish and the satellite parameters for the location you are at (azimuth, angle and skew) you can place the equipment so you can find an opening through the trees fairly easily.

It's a compromise, the auto dish is push button easy. The portable equipment generally always gets reception but takes more time to set up and tear down.
