Hello Redwood Gang!
This is my first post, hopefully I did this right?!
Just joined the family of redwood and we are going to the manufacturing plant this Thursday to see how these beauties are built.
If everything is up to DH standards we will be placing our order within a few months. We would like to take delivery around August. Any suggestions when we should place the order to get it by mid August?
We are interested in the 31SL or the 36RE.
Does anyone know if you can get a full back window in place of the solid wall? We really like the light the full window lets in.

Welcome to the forum. It seems like these Redwoods are catching on and so too are the orders. I would check with Redwood or your dealer as to the leave time between ordering and delivery but you are probably looking at least 8 weeks. We loved the floor plan of the 36RE and ordered it with 2 windows in the back and downsized the TV. On delivery we were pleased with that modification in that it provided more light and the smaller TV didn't dominate the room.
This forum is a great place to get some feedback on other upgrades to consider when you place your order.
Let us know how your plant tour goes and good luck with your order process.

Happy trails and safe travels

Welcome, Bo Dually! We just picked up our very slightly-used 2011 36 RE yesterday (in the snow!) It has the full window in the back and the TV rises up out of the countertop under the window. We think this design will work just fine for us, because we don't watch that much TV and we love lots of natural light and the ability to enjoy the scenery out the back. I think they changed the design to the solid wall in the back with the TV mounted on the wall for 2012. But since they used to make it the way you want it, perhaps they could build you one like the 2011 36 RE model. Good luck! We are so very excited to own one of these beautiful fifth-wheels. They are an order of magnitude above anything else we'd looked at.

Welcome Bo! I think you'll find we're a friendly bunch. I'm one of the folks waiting to have a trailer built. MyRLshould be at my house around the 2nd week of April after ordering it at the end of Jan. If you're going to go with full body paint it usually takes an extra 2 weeksof production.

Bo I have found that the factory is very acomidating, we are waiting for a 36fl and when we ordered it we made some structural changes such as adding a window and deleting a door plus some additional wiring. Dave is correct in saying full body paint adds a couple weeks to the delivery time, I ordered mine the second week of February and expect delivery around the middle of April. Have a good time shopping for your Redwood it's half of the fun of owning one.

We just picked up our 36RE. this is our third 5th wheel. The first was a HitchHiker II with a rear kitchen and the second was a Jayco Designer with a rear living. The big glass is OK, but we found it let a lot of heat in during the summer as well as cold in the winter. The RE was the answer for us as it still lets a good amount of light in but blocks the the back. Either way, I am sure you will enjoy the coach.

Hello IPull,

Thanks for the feed back, I really don't think we could go wrong ordering any of the floor plans, they are all so nice! I am so glad to hear such good comments about this product on here. Thanks again!

Hello Flyfisher,

Thanks so much for the warm welcome!

Your response is exactly what we were hoping to find out from the Redwood folks on Thursday, (oh my that is tomorrow...already). We wanted to see if we could get the windows like the 31SL or the full window with the pop up TV. I am so glad that you liked your modification and I like the idea of the smaller TV. It did seem to dominate the room to us as well.

This forum is great and the folks are so smart and I look forward to learning as we go as we are going fulltime this fall.

Thanks again for your reply!

Hello golfgal,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

This is exactly the type of information that I was hoping to get. This forum is full of so much knowledge. I didn't know that the 2011 model had the full back window with the pop up TV so it may be possible to get that in the 2012 as well. That is a questionI plan to ask whenI visit the plant tomorrow.

Thanks again for the reply and enjoy that (new to you) Redwood!

Hello DaveandGinny,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I have been searching for the "right" 5'er for the past six years (waiting for retirement) and I found that this forum seemed to me extremely friendly to one another and none of that sarcism if you are a newbie. I bet you sure are excited to get your RL! I know we will be going with the custom paint (silver and black) and I will have to calculate that extra 2 weeks in production.

Enjoy your RL and keep us posted on your delivery.

Thanks again!

Hello KR2011, Thanks for the warm welcome and your feedback. This type of information is so valueable to us before going to the plant tour tomorrow. Could I ask you what the additional wiring is that you have added? I don't want to miss anything and this might be something that we need to look into.

I am so excited that you will be getting your FL in April, I love that you have the picture attached. It just makes it so much more exciting and I agree that shopping is half of the fun of owning one, well said my Redwood friend!

Hello Happy Camper,

Thanks for the feedback. This is good information regarding letting the heat in with the big back window. One of my concerns was that there wouldn't be enough natural light but it sounds like it does have enough.

I am sure we will enjoy our coach as much as you and glad to hear you like yours!

We plan to go and spend a few hours in one to see if we can live without the full back window or at least two side ones.

Enjoy your new RE!

Bo Dually, the wiring is for the fantastic fans, the factory uses Max fans and I prefer the fantastic fans with remote and 14 speeds they are a lot quieter and move more air, so the factory is installing the needed wiring for me.

lillyputz,

Have you heard much about the rain sensor's? I have heard that the sensor doesn't work well. Not with the ones that RW is installing but just in general on other forum's. What is your experience with the rain sensor?

Bo Dually, there is a day/night shade on our back window, and on all the windows, of course. That should help with the summer sun streaming in and heating up the place. Ours also has the dual pane glass, so that maybe should help with the heat and cold. I had called Redwood yesterday to find out the care instructions for the comforter and shams on the bed. They connected me to a very nice fellow named Brian in the parts department. He didn't know the answer to my question, but he called the manufacturer of the comforter and got back to me a couple hours later. Dry clean only, in case you need to know! While I had him on the phone, I asked him if I could give him our VIN and have him look up what options our unit had had built into it. He did that willingly and emailed it to me. I am very impressed with Redwood so far!
