I have been staying in our Louisiana and Mississippi parks, just got back from Lake Bruin and about to go to South Toledo Bend. Haven't seen any Redwoods, altough met a host with a Carriage Cameo. I like the State Parks because of little alcohol useage.

After almost a year of full timing, we too have stayed at several State and National Parks. In general we have found that many of the Parks were designed and constructed many years ago. Many of the access roads are very narrow, with tight turns, covered with overgrown trees/shrubs, and the sites very small. The notable exception we found was Buffalo Bill State Park, near Cody, Wyoming, which we used as a base camp while visiting Yellowstone. And after visiting Yellowstone and looking at the National RV Park, I'm glad we did.

State Parks have a lot to offer. Redwooders are shut out of the CT State Parks because of the antiquated 35' Max Length limit. Oh well, RI State Parks are more beautiful and better maintained. They accommodate all lengths just fine.Edited by: 5th_Time

Last year we spent the entire vacation going to different state parks in Illinois. Most of them are beautiful and with the large holding tanks that the Redwood has, the dumping stations aren't a problem. We prefer state parks over privately owned facilities but you do have to watch out for the trees.

For some reason, we alway look to the State Parks first. I think it is because they always have a reason for being there like a nearby lake, attraction, or something, whereas private parks can be anywhere. You might be next to a beautiful river or a logging camp.
Colorado has spent some money on their parks over the last decade, and they really accomodate big rigs these days.

I have a 35 gallon turd toater that I have only used for Gray water tanks due to washing machine mainly. I agree the black water can last a while unless you have guest using it also.

I put the extra valve on our trailer so my wife and I can use up all of the 2 grey water tanks together mainly because of the state parks. We can shower freely and do the laundry for about 4 days before we have to worry about going to the dumping station. If we were more careful of course we could go longer.

Dave, which tank does the washer dump to? Or is it a direct drain into the main drain line?

All the parks I stay in have dump stations so I reserve as close as possible to use the tote.

On the RLs the washer drains into the bathroom/shower tank. Galley is all by itself.

On the RL I believe it drains into the bathroom grey tank.
