SWM is Single Wire Multiset. Your DVR uses the coax cable to feed recordings to your other DirecTV sets. Check with your installer for details. They change the LNBs on the dish to enable the process. You can watch a recording in the bedroom and live tv in the living room or outside. Really nice feature.

Direct TV is boasting wireless feeds to the other sets now, so they shouldn't have to hijack your other cables.
