I see no reason that you can't start at 45% and drop to a fair number... You may be Pleasantly surprised ..

Ford truck guy......I hate dickering, so I'll let my husband handle this part of it. He worked in purchasing for 40 years. :-) I'll tell him your suggestion. Thanks! Will keep everyone posted.

I have known Brad Walden (owner of Southern RV) for quite some time as we did a non RV related project for him and his parents.

When we were RV shopping, we looked at a Redwood that Southern RV had on their lot and liked it. I was very impressed with Brad's straight forward approach and his RV product knowledge as he shared many tips and comments with us.

The unit Southern RV had was a early 2014 38FL model that had some layout / feature items we did not like that were corrected in the late year 2014 38FL models.
We found a late 2014 model at another dealer, with pricing and options almost identical on both units, the later 38 FL model with its floorplan changes / upgrades won out and in the end and we ended up not purchasing from Southern RV.
As Fulltimers, neither Dealer we looked at was close to our Home Base so warranty work and service are a factor but do not carry a lot of weight as we most likely will be in another part of the country when we need warranty service.
We have relied on the factory for support for our Warranty needs and they have been absolutely great !!!

RV4us2.....I can't figure out how to private message you. When I click on your name, I see a drop down box that has the option to click on for private messaging. But when I do it takes me to another page that says you 'don't have authority to use this page', probably because you're aren't logged. GRRR!!!! I AM logged in. I'm having a really hard time negotiating this website so far. It shows that I'm logged in, but it won't let me access so many areas. Don't know what's up with that. Anyway, thanks for your advice. I'm no where NEAR Georgia, but thanks so much! I would have mentioned in a private message what state I'm from, but I don't want to state that publicly since I made comments about the couple of dealers we're dealing with.

rob_fla.....We'll likely be in the same position.....that is, traveling enough that we won't usually be near our home dealer anyway. That's one reason we aren't concerned about buying from a dealer a couple of hours from home. Nice to know that we can turn to the factory for help!

FYI...a dealer near us is advertising 2015 models at 37% off MSRP.

Thanks everyone! We greatly appreciate your suggestions and guidance. We finally ordered our 38GK yesterday! Done!!!! We're very happy with the deal we got, and we love the dealer. Now I need to start another thread. We'll need help with tow vehicles, towing, etc. We have decided to get a dually, so weight-wise we'll be okay. But I know there are so many other decisions to make......long-bed, short-bed.....where the rails go, etc.

Congratulations, I too have the 38GK (2015), and am really happy with it.

As far as the truck, I was able to make a good deal on 2015 GMC Denali Dually. Pulling the RV, I barely know it is there. It had enough power to pull the RW out when I buried it up to the axles in mud.

I'm sure AtomAnt will chime in here and tell you that there is a special place in hell for anyone that buys a GMC.

X2 on the Denali plus add the B&W turnover ball with companion fifth wheel hitch & you've got a great combination.

I bought my Ford in 2011 from someone I knew that needed to get rid of it at the time. I had a MH at the time and only used it occasionally and I had thought a few times about getting rid of it. I then started tweaking the motor and have loved it since I have about 10k in upgrades in the motor, transmission and suspension. Stock setting i am over 550HP and in high tune I am hitting close to 725HP. Its like driving a 8500lb corvette. When I bought the RW I finally was able to put all the upgrades to work. I just broke 35 k miles still have 300k more to go I am a ford fan. NO Government Motors here.

Congratulations and welcome to the group. If I was you I would test drive all 3 and make your own decision. You'll more than likely end up with a GMC

ford truck guy......We'll get delivery probably the end of March. I'm an avid photographer so you can bet I'll take pictures. Now we have to decide what color truck to get. We're getting the RW with the tan and burgundy exterior color. What color truck looks good with that? We'll have to do some looking.

I agree on both comments! Any of the big 3 will more than handle your needs as far as power, the rest is your personal decision when it comes to options, ride quality, fuel mileage, in which some are better than others.

I sometimes miss my 2008 - it was a lot more frisky than this 2014 and would pull the Redwood up the rocky mountains with a vengeance! I suppose it was the 4.10 gears.
