Lazy daze RV in Florida did offer that because of our drive, but it isnt a factory pickup, its through a broker there by the factory.

Price was better in texas, so we bought there.Edited by: atom ant

Where did you buy in Texas. We are talking to a dealer in Kyle, but I am planning to sent a request for a quote to about 3 dealers to see how much they differ. The Kyle dealer is good, but he doesn't seem to want us to order. He wants to find a unit that is close and add to that unit. I think I would rather order the unit exactly as I want it without after market changes.

Am I too picky? Advise is welcome.

If the RV industry is similar to the auto industry, the dealers make more money selling a unit off the lot.
We bought the truck as a factory order, as no BC dealer had exactly what we wanted. We have good history with the dealer so they willingly did a factory order. They made very little profit, but they have a happy customer that will be back.

I also find units on the lotusually c/w options you don't want, but have to pay for. It generally also costs more to install equipment after market.

While you may not have the same leverage on negotiating a price on a factory order, I prefer to get exactly what we want and figure most of the time you come out ahead on price as you don't pay for options you don't want.

I bought in Canton, David LeFlore. He is a straight shooter and under bid all the ones I tried - apples to apples. I got his name from Royce and a few others here on the forum.

Be careful with the inventory units, some are getting pretty outdated. I'm in Austin now on business and stopped in at the Kyle Explore USA to check it out. Some Redwoods still had cellular shades, the old chairs, and are missing the bedroom amoire, which puts them mid 2012 even though they are 2013. He had a new 36RL in tan/burgandy. Still, they all had Marathon tires instead of the G614, and no disk brakes. Those older ones should command a deeper discount, but if you can wait, order what you want!

a64armt call Mike Marsh at Explore USA in Mesquite Texas phone number 214.420.2600 at tell I sent you. We toured the factory in Aug of last year and ordered our 36RL when we got back to Tx. We got a big break on the price because we ordered it and got exactly what we wanted. We have no carpet except the slide, king bed, G tires, disc breaks, trailair hitch and all kinds of goodies. Had to wait 6 weeks for it but it was worth it. You cannot take delivery at the factory because of liabilites but they delivered it to Tx cheaper than I could have driven up there. no carpet is a big change. It may not be an option. But talk to David, I don't know what redwood limitations are.

Mike Marsh is one of the dealers I am talking to. They offered a great discount on a special order unit without haggling.

However, I have no desire to drive to TX and pick up the unit or pay to ship it. Don't get me wrong, I like Texas, but I don't have the time to dedicate to such an endevour right now.

I'm really hoping I can pick up the unit in Indiana.

You can order a rig with no carpet in the living areas. The slide with the chairs and dining table must be carpet for the slide and the closets will be carpet. We have the Beauflor in all the areas you walk. We have 4 small dogs so we don't want carpet. If you would consider buying in Tx remember our sales tax and title and lic fees are a lot lower than other states. That's why you see so many rig from Tx and they live up North. Adamsvr is right Tiara is a good dealer and it's about 30 miles from the factory. They made us a good deal but we got a better one (about $4,000) from Mike.

Sales tax, etc is computed based on where you register the coach, not where you buy it. In most (if not all) states, you have to produce a driver's license issued by that state, have a street and/or mailing address there, possibly some other things in order to register a vehicle in that state. Due to the economic situation, states are looking with disfavor on people who have multiple addresses (home, vehicle tags, coach tags, etc). They can charge you with tax evasion. See some of the sites about how to change domicile if you're a fulltimer for a full explanation.

Well, I talked to Mike Marsh today and he said the unit could be delivered to our home in PA at no additional cost. It would simply be shipped from the transportation center in Indiana to PA rather than to Texas. I'll just have to work out the details of the PDI.

The internet sure has made shopping so much easier and cheaper for the consumer. In 2008 we bought our 08 F250 King Ranch Diesel truck from a dealer in Houston and saved $20,000 off the sticker. It was delivered to our door in Georgia a week after the paperwork was received.

I'm not looking to skate out of sales tax in PA. I know that where I register is where the tax is collected. The bottom line is, all consumers want the best price and on large purchases, it can mean a lot of money.

I have the Hobby Hauler and only have carpet on the slide and Bedroom. That is how I asked and was todl that was fine because they lay the linoleum down and then put the carpet on top. No carpet should not be a big deal.
