The wife and I visited the Hershey RV show yesterday and is solidified our choice in the 31SL. Being open minded we viewed units by Lifestyle, Dynamax, DRV and a few others. but the 31SL meets our needs and the overall weights and dimensions are what we want. The other units are great and if we had a F350 or F450 the choice would be harder, but we are really happy with the 31SL. We met several other potential buyers with similar concerns.

I did finally get to meet Andy, the factory rep and we did get most of our questions answered. However, I never did learn the actual weight of the 31SL we were looking at. The posted specs on the site are averages resulting from sampling many units that are produced.

Has anyone weighed their 31SL and would they be willing to share their actual weights? I am really concerned with the pin weight its ratio to the overall weight.

Any information is appreciated.

OJ

The factory specs are..
<ul><li ="element element-text first">
Shipping Weight</span>12,120</span><li ="element element-text">
Carrying Capacity</span>3,880</span><li ="element element-text">
Hitch Weight</span>2,265</span><li ="element element-text">

For future shows, actual weights , including factory options, are on a sticker inside the unit. Mine is inside the monitor closet on the RL.

Yea, I screwed up on that one. I went in the show with the intention of getting the weights from the units, but then got awestruck and googly-eyed . I completely forgot to look for the stickers.

I believe every coach has its weight on a sticker inside the door where your monitor panel is.

Well, most anyway. Our unit does not have a weight sticker - somehow it got out of the factory without weighing. The only thing I can do now is get it weighed loaded.

a64armtwe have a 31sl. The weight delivered from the factory is 12,300. My F250 pulls it fine. Let me know if you have any more questions on the 31sl. -Dean</span>

Hi Dean, I'm from Canada and close to make a final decision on the 31SL. any regrets at your end with your choice. I like the RL as well but I'm worry about the extra length. Never pulled a rig before so I'm thinking to go shorter in order to ease myself into this new adventure. Thank you! Andre

Don't let the extra length worry you. It's best to get the floor plan that fits your needs because you'll get use to the length very quickly. The longer the trailer the easier it is to back in anyway and these Redwoods follow so nicely you won't know the difference when going down the road.

It sounds like you are going to pull this trailer with a 3/4 ton pickup. If thats the case I'd probably be more concerned with weight than length. The sticker on our RL says it was 13,200 dry, I think that figure is lite. I'm not a member of the"weight police" but to me 12 or 13 thousnd empty is dually territory. As far as the length thing goes, like Dave said these Redwoods seem to be very easy totow and back in so which ever one suits you best is theway to go.

My 2012 RW34SK weighed in at 12908 lbs dry. My truck can pull 15300 lbs and I do not want to get too close to that figure. I weighed the complete rig with all our belongings and it came in at 22280 lbs. Max total weight for my truck is 23000 lbs so I guess I am OK. The air bags have made a big difference in the ride and stability. Just my 23 cents worth.....

Our 31 SL shows 13,029 lbs on the sticker.

The extras we have that would add much weight are the generator and the 2nd A/C.

We ordered the unit withthe 12CF fridge butthere was a mix up at the plant and it was not installed. We are still working on getting it changed out to the correct unit after several months.

Lazy Days in Tucson and probably Florida weighs all units new or used before they sell them. It is good information for the buyer and limits any liability on Lazy Days part for an overloaded rig. Safe driving practices should always be used to avoid accident situation.

OK here are the weights on my rig:

Steer Axel 5140 lbs

Drive Axel 6580 lbs

Trailer Axel 10,560 lbs

Gross Weight 22,280 lbs

My 2010 F250 diesel can tow a maximum loaded trailer weight of 15,300 lbs. What I need to know and can only get by wieghing is the drive axel weight unloaded. If anyone out there has a "stock" factory weight for an F250 drive axel that could help in determining pin weight without weighing.

Jack here's the rub, you're at 11720 on your truck, which probably does have a gross any higher than 10K so if that's the case you're already 1720 over the number that they would go by in a weight check. Now you really need to look at the sticker on your door pillar and see what you truck is actually grossed at, being a 2010 might be a little higher, but I can tell you my 2011 Chevy 3500 Dually only has a gross of 13K

Jack, are you sure those numbers are right, your front seems heavy, with our 36RL connected I'm at 4660 on the front and 7840 on the duals (we're carrying about 4K of pin). Or do you have a shot box so more of the weight is put on the front axle?Edited by: mhs4771

I have the same question. My F350 is a 2012, Crew Cab, Short bed. Has the 11,500 GVW package and also Snowplow Prep (heavier front springs and dual alternators), With my 36RL hooked up (no gen set, no W/D, no DW) I'm at 6600 on the rear axle and a bit over 4000 on the front. Your front axle weight seems awful heavy.

Send a message via Yahoo to RollsRoyce

KenM,,, if your unit came with the 2nd a/c that weight is already included and so is anything else that was installed at the factory.

The numbers I reported are correct per a CAT scale weight on November 30th. The pillar on information on the truck show GAWR front at 5600 lbs and rear 6100 lbs. I do have a crew cab and short bed. It is possible that the air bags inflated have shifted some of the weight to the front, just guessing here. Next time I get the rig out I will go to the scales and wiegh it again.

I found my "cat" scale ticket from when I had my SRW f350 crew cab short bed 4x4. With 1/3 tank of water and full fuel (70 gallons), Retractable bed cover my front axle was 5020, drives 7500 and the trailer was 11740. Keep in mind my RL has the washer/dryer, generator and all the other goodies. The trailer was not fully loaded at this point with food, dishes and such.

This means my truck was carrying 12,520, the gvw on the truck was 11,500. I switched to a dually because of the rear tires. I knew I could put extra helper springs on the truck to carry the extra weight but the 20' E rated tires were maxed out. My Dually has a gvw of 13,300.

The scale ticket on my 2011 srw F350 CC wxw Lariat without the trailer was
steer 4900
Drive 3500

total 8400

again this is with full fuel (both tanks) and a bed cover. You're numbers are pretty close.
